I have four of these now and I use all of them every year. You can't beat the ease of set up or breakdown. They store flat which is the sweetest feature. Great buy!

Not Up to Gardener's Supply Usual Great Products

Comments about : Tall Expandable Pea Trellis:

There are only a few negative reviews on this product and I overlooked them thinking that the person simply couldn't figure out how to put it together ... well I should have listened. I had all of the same issues and I just returned it.

It comes in two sections - a top and a bottom. Each of the sections kept falling apart and after a long struggle, I got the top affixed to the bottom and went to stand it up and it all fell apart again!!!

The issue is that it is made with the same sort of "panels" that the WONDERFUL Tomato and Pepper cages are made of, but they do not stay connected - when you go to lift the unit up, the sections disconnect. I was going to get a pliers and start bending around where the sections connect, but if that didn't work, then I was sure that I could not return it and I did expect it to work "out of the box".

Be careful if you decide to purchase - The product is about $50, shipping was around $12 and it cost me $26 to ship it back. So I'll have lost $38 in shipping costs to try this. I have purchased many fine products from Gardener's Supply over the years, but this is not one of them.

Comments about : Tall Expandable Pea Trellis:

I have been a gardener for over 30 years and never encountered such a huge waste of time and money. After over an hour of trying to install this thing what I am left with is crooked, wobbly, and not even in the extremely simple configuration I wanted because I can't make even the most minor adjustments. It is useless. Every panel has 5 downward bending hooks that have to match perfectly at the same time with the holes on the next panel. Apply uneven downward pressure or need to lift the panels up to move or adjust them? You guessed it, all the hooks pull out of the connecting panel. Breathe on this thing wrong and the hooks pop out.. Forget about being able to adjust the trellis even a small amount once it is in the ground (or even ahead of time)- multiply 5 hooks by two sides and two stacks and now one wrong move means everything disconnects. I tried right angles to stabilize but 6 panels pulled apart when I made a corner. You could tie-wrap every connection but the trellis is so flimsy I would have to stake it and at that point I would be better off with just stakes and twine.
