Great for summer temperature control

By Roger the llamaguy

Pros

  • Easy To Use
  • Large Coverage Area
  • Portable
  • Safe

Cons

  • Not A Tarp Tears

Best Uses

  • Shade Covering
  • Temperature Moderating

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:

The summer fabric has uses beyond just protection from cold like heavier weight frost fabrics. It is a great temperature moderator. Here in Denver we have cool nights (July 3rd, 57 degrees) but highs in the 90's. A partial canopy (not sealed to the ground)keeps the soil and plants warmer at night but doesn't over heat them during the day. Using it more like a shade canopy makes it less susceptible to wind. The shade has extended the season of cool weather crops (lettuce, peas). The fabric has resited marble sized hail several times and saved my season.

It is NOT strong enough to support itself over large areas (tears at attachment point.) I have raised beds with arching supports made of 3.5' x 7.5' steel remesh from home improvement stores, and keep the fabric in place with clothes pins. Easy to remove to plant, weed, harvest, ets.

So easy to use and yet so very effective. The insects are having little bug meetings to see how to get through it. Adds to the total look of a once overgrown space. Thank you.

I USE THIS PRODUCT TO PROTECT FROM BOTH COLD AND TOO MUCH SUN. DON'T THROW IT AWAY WHEN IT STARTS TO WEAR OUT. TINKY PIECES CAN BE USED TO COVER TRANSPLANTS, ETC. YOU DON'T NEED AN ENTIRE PIECE - JUST SAY A SQUARE FOOT. CAN DOUBLE IT WHEN YOU WANT THICKER. THERE ARE MANY USES THAT YOU HAVEN'T EVEN THOUGHT OF YET. HANG ON TO IT. IT CAN START TO LOOK RAGGED BUT, HEY, THE PLANTS DON'T MIND ONE BIT.

              Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:

Keeping our blackberries from being devoured by birds, we have tried a coupleof sstrategies. The first was netting. It was somewhat effective, but occasionallya bird would be killed after being caught in the netting. I found this and thought it would be effective, yet safer for the birds. We covered the bushes and was pleased with the outcome. Three days later.... Living in Kansas, the wind is a little lively at times, the fabric was lying on the ground. We had the corners anchored with thin tent stakes. The fabric tore at all four corners and crumpled in the corner. I do like the fabric, I just need to find a way to make it stand up to wind.
