should call them battery powered

By enlightened gardener

Pros

  • Crackled Glass Is Pretty

Cons

  • Changing Batteries Often

Best Uses

I purchased 3 lights. They worked beautifully the first two nights. They don't have an on/off switch, you just put them in the sun and the sun should charge the battery so it stays lit during the night. The third day, I changed the batteries and they worked another two days. I think these should be called battery powered lights because I don't believe there is any solar charging going on.

I have these placed in full sun...9-10 hours of sun per day, but they only stay lit for a few hours even with fresh batteries. I have other solar powered lights that are truly solar powered and work all night and I've only had to change the batteries once over a two-year period.

The crackled glass is pretty in the daytime (even when not lit), but too expensive to purchase them for that reason only.

Solar powered globe, absorbs the sunlight by day and glows at night (like a planet in the sky). Colors are beautiful - and the piece adds to the garden design. We had two of these solar globes before - and the globe on one shattered. We will see how this one holds up.

I purchased 6 of these and used them on the border of a landscape planting. One quit working within a couple of days and the people at Gardener's Supply replaced it free of charge (Their customer service is Great!!!). Well, It's only been about a month since the original purchase and I'm down to three working. I don't have much faith in the others lasting much longer. They really are neat when they work. I hope that others who purchased these are having better luck. Sad...

Sorry to say that two of the three replacements did not shine,
even with new batteries. Same full-day light as the ones which work six feet away. In past years, I have ordered lights with a lily, a bird or a starburst to alternate on the tops, and they are still glowing. This current globe design is just not as reliable, though the price was the same.

I do appreciate your kindness in replacing the faulty product a few weeks ago, and I will continue to order other items from your fine company. But not that globe light.

When the others work -- I have six of the globes -- they are stunningly beautiful.

This product looks beautiful in the evening. Only problem was that it came on too quickly and drained the battery too quickly as well. I made a slight modification to it with a new solar cell and it works great. It is a sturdy item and looks great surrounded by my mom's lilies!

The Northern Lights Spheres really look great and cool when they are working. However, I've had two of the glass spheres become loose and rain got inside. We had to re-glue them back on. We've also had trouble with the batteries. Finding replacements is expensive. Replacements don't recharge due to lack of voltage or too much voltage. Finding an exact match is difficult and very pricey! I still like them but I wish they worked better and didn't cost me extra money and headaches.

I have had these lights before but the new ones are made so much better. The glass ball on top screws on and is a much better quality. The batteries on one lasted a day and the other about 4 days. Living in a small town I could not find replacements. I called customer service and they were so nice to work with.
