Pros

  • Holding Capacity

Cons

  • Slightly Flimsy

Best Uses

Comments about Self-Watering Transplant Pots:

I use this product to start seeds indoors over winter so that I can plant the seedlings outdoors in the spring. The plastic containers seem like they are durable enough and will last but we will have to see about the black plastic reservoir and container holder. That plastic is flimsier although I'm sure it will be fine if properly cared for and not moved around too much. The best part about this unit is that all the seed containers are individual and can be removed to plant or replant by itself. Also, being able to grow 40 seedlings at one time in a confined space, I live in an apartment, is awesome. I would recommend this product very much.

I used these for seed starting outdoors, they are durable and attractive. However I had more success with my cheap black flimsy plastic basic gardening seed pots. I would recommend these to anyone who wants them for asthetic purposes

        Comments about Self-Watering Transplant Pots:

The bottom tray is very thin plastic and will be a single-use tray. The water reservoir is only 1/4" deep, so still needs to be watered daily. I was expecting a deep reservoir with platform and wicking mat, like my seed-starter kit. Very disappointed!

I really like these pots in all sizes for growing seeds indoors. The others are cumbersome and difficult to manage. That said, I am getting mold, but that has nothing to do with this kit.

Starting a number of cuttings from other plants. Soil stays sufficiently moist, and the seperate containers guarentee no root tangle.

            Comments about Self-Watering Transplant Pots:

The bottom reservoir does not have an obvious fill area once the top plant area is placed. And, after 2 weeks I already have a leak in one of the bottom reservoirs (I bought 2). The starter sets that I have had for 5 years have a much more sturdy base than these. I would not purchase these again unless they were upgraded

I already own a set of the 2" reusable pots and have been well pleased with them. I decided to buy a set of the 4" transplant pots to grow my plants to the proper size for planting in the garden. It's perfect for my needs, the plants thrive in them and I won't be buying as many peat pots.

                  Comments about Self-Watering Transplant Pots:

I have used the 2" and 3" pots for many years for transplanting many varieties of flower and a few common vegetable seedlings from seed starting cells. They work beautifully! I love the bright orange pots; when I transplant the plants into the garden, I never lose a pot. The pots are sturdy enough for my purposes, and I have never broken one. The rest of the assembly could be made of tougher stuff, though. My best recommendation to Gardener's Supply is to please, please make an intermediary size: perhaps 24 to 30 2 1/2" pots. This would exactly suit my needs, and I would be surprised if it did not suit those of other gardeners as well.
