I have used the earlier version of this for over ten years and loved it for tomatoes and especially for cucumbers! The new version has definitely improved the filling/overflow by placing it on the front and with a shield to keep the water flow from washing out some of the soil. My cucumbers (I raise the burbless variety of gourmet cucumbers) and the constant availability of water provides for highly consistent yields of long fresh cakes!

Comments about : Self-Watering Patio Planter, Bronze:

Really enjoy the fact that I can leave it over a weekend and not worry about my plants not getting watered for 2-3 days. Avoid the temptation to overcrowd with young plants as the growing area is not all that deep. Tends to get heavy when full with water so I'd use the wheels it you plan to move. I keep them on my back deck where the critters are less likely to come and eat my plants!!

I purchased several of these self-watering planters to use outside on my pool deck. I wanted large planter boxes that looked nice for growing vegetables. The caster wheels are wonderful, because I can easily move the planters to sunny spots on the deck. With cooler weather approaching, I chose to plant spinach & Swiss chard seed. The seeds have recently sprouted & they seem to be doing well. The self watering feature is good & I am currently watering every other week. I may have to increase as the plants mature. Overall, the product seems sturdy & they are very easy to assemble. I will have to see how they hold up over time, but I think that they will last quite a while.

This planter holds up to the hot Florida sun and wind near the ocean. I have eight of these on a deck. The oldest one is one its third season and shows no cracking and very little fading.

I bought 3 planters many years ago and added three more this season to grow tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and herbs on my deck. They worked great especially during the hot and dry summer days. I have the best harvest this year ever. At the end of the season, I usually stack them and store in the basement. I would give it 5 stars if it is more affordable.

I have bought 7 patio planters for my elderly mom to grow vegetables, herbs and plants on her patio. She moved to a condo 14 years ago and missed gardening.
The planters work very well are durable and easy to use and maintain.
