Exclusive | The Perfect Soil Mix for Self-Watering Containers

  • Lightweight mix wicks water from the reservoir to the root system
  • Well-drained to prevent waterlogged soil
  • Specially formulated for self-watering containers; also great for standard planters

Our field tests prove it: In self-watering planters, this lightweight mix works better than conventional potting soil. Its coarse, airy texture acts like a wick, carrying water from the planter’s reservoir to the root system. The result is more vigorous root growth, better aeration and less waterlogging. It's also an ideal mix for standard pots and planters. Contains sphagnum peat, perlite, vermiculite and limestone. 20-quart bag.

    Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:

I planted some annual flowers in the containers. They are blooming nicely.I put 2 in the front of my house and they have solar lights in the front. I put one in the back of house but I think the deer ate some of the blossoms , so I put 2 solar lights at each end of the container and hope this keeps the deer away.

      Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:

I purchased a few of your self watering hanging planters and used this mix in them. It was working great till we started getting our daily showers and the reservoirs filled up and the soil stays too wet now, I have lost a strawberry plant to root rot. It is nice and light even when moist, heavy when wet. I will use again. Have moved my plants so they get less rain

I also purchased for one of your self watering planter boxes as a gift and my friend loves it with the veggies I planted in it.

        Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:

All of my vegetables are planted in self-watering containers. I have tried products from local nurseries but found that I did not get the same great results with those products as with this self-watering container mix. Even with our extremely dry climate, this mixture does seem to keep the plants evenly moist as long as I am diligent about keeping water in the self-watering container reservoirs.

        Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:

As stated above the original design with tube watering works best. Side box watering doors break easily after exposure to sunlight. The original box I ordered had a RED plastic to cover mix, that worked great. It produces 40+ lbs. per plant using the blossom set spray. I plant Bonnie Plants tomato BHN 602 Tomato (Hybrid Tomato)

This soil is great for the self-watering tubs. Water every few days depending on your area. The tubs are portable if you want to protect your plants during a freeze.
