Comments about : Seedling Cabana:

So far I have started my garden tomato plants in it. Now that winter is coming, I am going to try and grow full sized tomato plants and a cherry pepper plant. Both are a small variety, I am hopeful. I plan to move the plants down shelves as they grow bigger. A fun winter project.

Pros

  • Compact
  • Easy Set Up
  • Looks Good

Cons

  • Open Slat Shelving

Best Uses

Comments about : Seedling Cabana:

I live in cold Chicago where spring doesn't start until after Mother's Day and sometimes Memorial Day. So because of the shorten growing season some veggies don't develop properly. This system fit perfectly on my sun porch and I was able to start my cold crops 6 weeks out. The unit is easy to put together. The only thing I wish it had clear plastic self liners to catch dirt and water spills. I did buy some plexi shelves from a local retailer. Very functional and I could use this greenhouse all year long to grow lettuce and spinach just to name a few.

maximum space in minimum footprint

By BAR

from Athens, AL

Verified Buyer

Pros

  • Doesnt Take Up Much Room
  • Fairly Easy Assembly
  • Keeps My Cats Out

Cons

  • Could Be Less Flimsy
  • Easy To Tip Over

Best Uses

    Comments about : Seedling Cabana:

We bought this item mainly because of the cover; it will keep the cats out of the seedlings. The double shelf with double lights gives you maximum space in a minimum footprint. Those lights are bright though so be sure to put it where the lights won't bother you. Works great; we have tomatoes, okra and peppers germinating in less than a week! Also, don't plan on moving it around; it is a little on the flimsy side but as long as you leave it in place, it's fine.

    Comments about : Seedling Cabana:

I was sceptical but pleasantly surprised. 20 minutes to assemble. Keeps seedlings in a higher humidity but doesn't seem to promote condensation. Much more productive than stand alone grow lights.

    disappointing results

    By cooking from scratch

    Comments about : Seedling Cabana:

I am used to growing under grow lights, but these compact flourescents just did not seem to do the job. Information about compact flourescents suggested that the plants should be 12 - 18 inches from the light(the compact flourescents of the cabana)as opposed to the inch or two I keep my plants from regular flourescent bulbs. The broccoli I put in there (the grow room was full) turned out very leggy, even though I only had them in there for the first couple of days because I could see what was happening. Disappointing. Will likely reserve its use to ssomething like maintaing herbs in the winter (cilantro, parsley, e.g.).

    Comments about : Seedling Cabana:

As a general light garden for african violets and orchids, this is just about perfect. It's easy to elevate plants as needed to get closer to the lights. Trays came with the product, so you have everything you need for a good price.

    Comments about : Seedling Cabana:

It was fairly easy to assemble. Not sure why there were clips and zip ties for attachment but I used both. Lights are very high quality. Once assembled, it is sturdy and attractive. Kept my seedlings nice and warm. Would highly recommend.

I love how easy it was to put together, I am so impressed with its sturdyness and effectiveness. I wish I had two of these. Unfortunately I purchased a different two tier grow light 2 years ago therefore, I don't need another one, but, would gladly replace for this one when the time comes. If you're looking to start your own seedlings, this is an excellent way to start, you will absolutely love it..I do!!!

      Comments about : Seedling Cabana:

I've been growing lots of seedlings in this unit. They are mostly perenials (some shade and some full sun). They have been doing great - no spindling. I got a few fungus gnats (they look like fruit flies) in there, but insect glue traps took care of them. This is much better than the table top grow lamp which I also have. It comes with nice trays that prevent water spillage.

      nice for the price

      By Pio

      from Williamstown, MA

      Pros

      • Decent Space
      • Very bright

      Cons

      • Some Cheap Parts

      Best Uses

      • Seed Germination

      Comments about : Seedling Cabana:

It was relatively easy to assemble and it is sturdier than what I expected (although not super). the light are the strip lights "sun blaze" with high output bulbs (24 watts each). The white cover intensifies the brightness. Since each light strip costs about $30 dollars and there 4 of them, the price is good. When assembling make sure the poles are fully inserted into the corners (otherwise it will not be balanced).
