Comments about : Santa Fe Rain Barrel:

I have an attic mounted a/c condenser/air handler whose drip pans corroded away. Water drained through the ceiling of one of my bed rooms. With 95 degree temps, I couldn't turn off the air, so I bought the Santa Fe Barrel to catch the water which was dripping at 12 gallons a day. This will buy me time until a contractor will work in the attic. Gardeners' has barrels that look more like furniture but this ones wide opening works excellent.

Comments about : Santa Fe Rain Barrel:

Bought two of these 4 years ago when we built a home in a remote area. It came with instructions on how to use. The overflow spouts aren't cut to allow the owner to choose which one they want to use. The hose was shorter than I wanted so I bought a longer(6')hose. I have a little experience with plumbing so I used Teflon tape to wrap the threads on the barrel before attaching the hose. Design: I like the simple lines and visitors don't recognize they are rain barrels. Stability: it is extremely windy here and they will blow over when empty, however they are rarely empty. Once filled they are unmovable. Use: Science tells us that water flows DOWN so it makes sense that the outflow is at the bottom of the barrel and the hose end must be lower than the barrel. I haven't found an overflow hose that fits and isn't ugly but I keep it hidden in the back of the barrel. They provide plenty of water for me to water all my houseplants and my outdoor plants that rain can't reach.

Comments about : Santa Fe Rain Barrel:

The barrel is too lightweight so some weighting has to be put inside at the bottom of the barrel. The screen over the top causes a splattering of the water and will most likely have to be removed. The shut-off valve does NOT screw into the barrel; rather it is glued and fit into the plastic. Thus, it can come out rather easily. I don't recommend this product.

The rain from our downspout was leaving a big hole near our foundation. What to do? Because I wanted to conserve the rain water this barrel with its fine lines, and upscale look was the perfect answer for my new home. There is no downside to this option. Plan on buying more for around the house. Extremely pleased with my purchase!

I love the idea of using rain water to water my plants. That is why I purchased this rain barrel. It is attractive and collects the water very nicely, but should be elevated atleast one foot for good drainage. There was no mention of this fact, in fact there were no instructions at all!

there are two cylindrical plastic extrusions near the top of the barrel. we assume that they are the overflow ports but they are not finished. there is no outlet hole. they really take away from the appearance and they are not shown in the picture online.
