Rubber Walkway Goes Down Fast, Lasts for Years

  • Scatter-proof recycled rubber walkway is a long-lasting alternative to loose bark mulch
  • Walkway stays put, holds its shape and cushions your feet
  • Keeps feet clean and dry in muddy areas

Here's a smart alternative to bark mulch, made from 100% recycled tires. A landscape backing holds the shredded rubber in place, while it also suppresses weed growth. Each 22" by 72" section is easy to install, and the 2" lip of fabric down one side ensures continuous coverage over wider areas. We recommend anchoring the mulch with our Earth Staples, sold separately.

Recycled Rubber
  • 100% recycled rubber with landscape fabric backing
  • Water-permeable
  • 22" W x 6' L x 1/4" thick

I was surprised that this product had not held up for others, because it has been very durable in my yard. I use it between 2 raised beds.

      Comments about Recycled Rubber Walkway:

Very easy to install because the ground underneath doesn't have to be completely flat. We used it for our problem area by the fence that our dogs run a path in and we can't get grass to grow. Very easy and safe on their paws too.

solved problem with muddy garden area between bushes where nothing grew but needed pathway to walk on. Second time have purchased and leave out year round - withstands winter snow - we don't shovel this area but need sturdy path as soon as snow melts and springs rains start.

          Comments about Recycled Rubber Walkway:

These aren't quite as wide as the paths between my raised beds, but they look nice, are easy to shake the fall leaves off of in the spring, and they mean I don't have to keep adding mulch every year. I bought some a few years ago and they still look good, even though I've left them out through the winter. The old ones at least seem durable. Depending on how long they last, the expense may even be justified.

no directions, such as how to lay it and use ground staples. rubber separates from the black matting very easily. rubbber also rips very easily.

            Comments about Recycled Rubber Walkway:

I have a sloped area in my garden and every time we had heavy rains, the mulch, dirt, etc. would get washed away. I put this mat down, bought bark mulch to match the color to put in the garden on both sides of this runner, topped it with the stepping stones, and it could not be working better. My problem is solved! (I bought the round rubber decorative stepping stones from this catalog.)

I have a garden area that is enclosed with a knee wall around it, and I needed something to put between the knee wall and the garden that looked better than a worn path. This product is perfect. It looks good, it's definitely durable and will last for years to come, and it's a recycled product.

                Comments about Recycled Rubber Walkway:

After reading reviews saying the walkway was not good for pathways, I bought 3 to install on a very slight slope to control erosion. This slope is not walked on. During install small pieces broke off. There is not enough rubber in the mat so it's sort of hole-y. The rubber that is there is not bonded strongly at all. The weed blocking material is barely tacked on so the rubber layer becomes detached almost immediately. After a week or so, the mats had slipped down the slope a bit and when I grabbed an edge to pull it back up, the mat did not move because handfuls just broke off. Really disappointed because the 4.5" rubber edge border is such an excellent product. Gardener's has kindly given me a credit.

I liked how easy it was to unroll and put down. Price could be a little lower as I would need several rolls and that made it to expensive to add more.

                    Comments about Recycled Rubber Walkway:

I have a path I want to keep clear and be able to walk on and get the push mower through, so running several of these together is great. It is pretty inconspicuous, and the earth staples are enough to keep it in place. I did have one section torn up a bit by some sort of "critter" one of the first nights, before I had the staples, but it has been a while now and seems fine.
