Shorter, Smaller, Still as unattractive

By afterenglit

Pros

  • Great Ballast

Cons

    Best Uses

Why anyone would think this product is attractive enough to use as mulch is beyond me. It might make you feel eco-conscious because you're helping to keep tires out of landfills, but its best use is as ballast in the vegetable garden: If you use any kind of row covers over your beds, cut this stuff into appropriate lengths and use it to hold down the material at the ends of the bed/row. It's heavy and it really grips any kind of spun-bonded polyester or screening so windy days are no problem. And it can be stored outside.

      recycled rubber mat border

      By Lucille Luckner

I absolutely love these recycled rubber borders & mats. They suppress the weed growth while allowing my flowers & shrubs to thrive by keeping the soil slightly damp. I attribute the successful survival of my plants to these recycled rubber mats. It is also much easier to trim around these borders. Saves me a lot of back breaking garden work, looks nice & lasts for years.

When my raised garden was planted, I wondered what to do to keep the grass away from the frame to make cutting the grass easier for my husband.
This rubber edging is just the ticket. Many thanks!

Tree ring: Haven't used it yet, but if it works like the edging I will love it

The Edging is wonderful. It makes everything look neater. I only hope that it will keep my weed whacking husband far enough away from the flowers. He has a habit of cutting them off.

Stakes work well holding down the edging.

I would and already have told my friends about it. Some have seen it and are or ding.

I do however think that you should sell them in larger rolls. I am edging my whole yard and the rolls are just to short.

Used this edging around a garden on a slope where water runoff was a problem.....bark mulch kept washing away. Blends nicely with my mulch. Water continues to run off, but this rubber mulch stays in place.....love it!

                        Best Uses

I put this between lawn and ground cover a year ago. Now the grass is growing up through it and so is the ground cover. Yes, it was better than bark mulch for one season, but now I can't pull or dig up the weeds that are growing through it, so it looks terrible. Vertical edging would have served better.
