Comments about Rainwater Urn, 50 Gallon:

I've had the smaller rain barrel for over 3 years now. I rarely use water from the house to water the garden. There are cons to the product.
1. You cannot clean the inside of the barrel
2. The spigot on mine gummed up in the first year and no water comes out.
3. The hose attachment is a non-standard hose size with a clamp to keep it connected. I've already had to cut the hose twice as it has cracked, and the hose has a tendency to come off and there goes all the water you're trying to conserve.
4. The overflow is at the back, so if you do not have it connected to another barrel, all that water goes right onto your house and foundation.
It seems like alot of cons, but it's still a great product. I feel like if they just tweaked it a bit, it would be perfect.

Comments about Rainwater Urn, 50 Gallon:

This attractive design could be made better if it had a removable lid that would allow easy clean out.The brass faucet itself is top notch but I had to return the first barrel due to stripped female threads for the faucet. Telephone service for returns was very professional. I have two of these and would buy more.

I wish the spigot and discharge hose outlets were not on top of one another. Would be easier to fill my watering cans. My other rain barrel has a removable lid.....it helps with installation and empting the top(I do not want to plant there)

Comments about Rainwater Urn, 50 Gallon:

You cannot drain completely due to the design. When I had something growing in it I could not get it clean. Cannot drain the sludge that has built up in it (and I have only had it for 6 months.) The hose is directly beneath the tap rendering the tap useless. I cannot set a watering can beneath it--I cannot use it for anything except connecting it to my own hose.
Overall very dissatisfied with this product--and I love Gardners!

                  • Water For Plants On Deck

Comments about Rainwater Urn, 50 Gallon:

Had the larger barrel, but damaged spout when putting away for the winter, so bought smaller one. I like it, but it is raining so much this year I have to continually empty because it is overflowing and I don't have the extra 15 gallon capacity.

Spouts are awkwardly placed, liked placement on larger barrel better, but took off hose and put a spigot connector of own purchase on it.

Really handy to wanter plants on the deck. Would like to figure out how to use to water plants further away, but not quite enough of an engineer to figure that out for now.

Like collecting rainwater, surprized at how clean it is coming out of the barrel.

Looks nice but it did not come with a hose or spigot. After calling they sent out a black hose that was not long enough. I am still waiting for the spigot therefore I don't really know if it works yet.

Comments about Rainwater Urn, 50 Gallon:

Pros: This will work for what we intended it for which is saving rain water and using it to water our outdoor plants.

Cons: It leaked at first around the fittings but thats an easy and quick fix. It can be plumbed into another rain barrel but don't know why they would design the place to do this at directly behind the barrel. The hose was missing but I had pieces that were readily available. The seam is so obvious where the two halves are joined during the molding process.

I bought a rain barrel for myself. My sister saw it and wanted one, so I got her one for her birthday. Then my mom saw hers and wanted one. So we bought one for her for Mother's Day.
