nice looking, bad design

Comments about : Rainwater Urn, 65 Gallon:

this is my third one because they look better than most rain barrels and I want them to match in my yard. But a couple of really dumb design issues are annoying. One is the spout can't be used. Literally, you cant screw it in far enough to not leak like mad, and still turn the handle. SUPER DUMB. I had to find a longer one at the hardware store that fit. They used to sell you a bad plastic one, now its metal but you cant use it. See photos. The other thing is this "planter concept" for the top is also really really dumb. It becomes a bucket when it rains so either your plants will rot - there is no drainage OR you don't plant plants in there and it is a gross mosquito green smelly pool. Super dumb. I drill holes in it so the water goes IN TO THE RAIN BARREL. Which is why we buy these things. See photos. Also it has a horizontal seem in the middle and it will begin to leak around the spout at some point. It's too bad they cant pour the plastic to be one piece like most other barrels. It took about a year for mine to start leaking.
