Railing-mounted Heated Bird Bath Provides Fresh Water to Keep Birds Healthy Year-Round

  • Provide birds with much-needed fresh water in all kinds of weather
  • Clamps to a railing up to 2" thick
  • Built-in thermostat conserves electricity

Birds need access to water in winter as much as in summer. In addition to drinking, birds use water for their frequent grooming, otherwise, their feathers can’t insulate against winter’s cold. This plug-in steel birdbath has an efficient, 75-watt heater with a thermostatic control that heats only when necessary and keeps water from freezing at temperatures as low as -10°F. Insulated plastic bowl holds 2 quarts.

  • Powder-coated steel, plastic
  • Bowl is 13-1/2" in diameter x 2" H
  • 75-watt heater
  • Holds 2 quarts
  • Cord tucks away for birdbath use in summer months

Keeps water liquid in sub-freezing weath

      Comments about Deck Heated Birdbath:

The product looks exactly as it does in the photo. The power cord is only about a foot long so you have to use an extension cord, although the instructions say not to. The cord tucks up to hide it underneath in warm wather.

Since it clamps to the flat deck rail cap board, you may have to modify the bracket or the deck rails since it requires about 1.5" of clearance on the under side.

I've had it outside at 15F now and it does indeed keep the water liquid, but not "warm", so the thermostat is great.

            Comments about Deck Heated Birdbath:

The board on my deck does not allow for mounting there. I wish I had paid closer attention to that. It would be nice for the mount to be more flexible. I put it on an existing bird bath and one just needs to monitor the water level.

            Comments about Deck Heated Birdbath:

I had a heated birdbath that I bought from Gardener's Supply several years ago, it lasted a long time and worked well in sub-zero Maine winters. When it was time to replace it, I looked for the same as I had before. This one is great, so far works just as well as my old one. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it is quite a bit more shallow than my old one, so the water evaporates a lot faster.

This birdbath has stood up to 12 inches of snow and minus 7 degrees this winter. The birds love it! It is easy to install, fill and keep clean. A very good purchase.

                  Comments about Deck Heated Birdbath:

Ibought my first birdbath about 5 years ao. Have greatly enjoyed watching birds drinking and bathing. It's also a good conversation piece. I live in Michigan, a rather severe climate, so am happy to be able to give birds and squirrels (and the cat) fresh water in the winter.

                  Comments about Deck Heated Birdbath:

I previously rated this item, but am happy to do so again. The great thing is,this bath provides much needed water in the winter. It is not well made, at all. We frequently have to relevel it. The dish is shallow, so I add water every day. I don't imagine this bath will withstand the weight of the icy, wet snow we often get around here. We'll see.

                    Comments about Deck Heated Birdbath:

Because of the mild winter here, I haven't been able to test the heating aspect of this unit. Additionally, just after ordering it, a neighbor's cat began using my stone bird bath (also attached to the deck rail) to get his water fix. So I've haven't filled it yet in hopes that the cat will find a water source elsewhere. My only surprise is that the pan and the heating element are one piece; I would have thought that the pan would lift our (without the element) for cleaning and filling.
