Just like anything you pound into the ground, if you have rocks you will have problems. I had to dig out a few, but the edging pounded in fine afterwards. Even clay didn't seem to cause a problem.

My flower beds had risen over the existing edging over the years and the mulch flowed out with rain water. These sections were easy to pound into the beds.

This was used to replace wooden railroad ties that had rotted over time. It was easy to install, looks tidy, holds the soil in place, and seems as if it will be durable.

I have and irrigation system. Using these for edging is not only attractive but keeps water from running away from roses and other flowers.

              Comments about : 8" Pound-In Edging:

Am a 74 yr. old female - and was able to install 20 ft. of pound in edging all by myself ! We have a fireplace brickwork in the front of our house with landscaping highlighting that and new black mulch. Used the pound in edging in the 12 inch size to secure the mulch and define the space. It looks beautiful. When people walk their pooches in front of our home, they actually stop and stare ! Am thinking now about installing this edging on the opposite side of our front yard. Could not be happier with this product. Our neighbor across the street inquired about our "new look" ..... he is a landscaper !

I have a beautiful garden next to a gravel path. The eight inch height allowed me to have four inches of edging under ground which helped prevent some weeds from the path going into my garden. Looks beautiful and is very easy to install. The front of my house looks much neater and the weeds are kept at bay now making it easier to get rid of them.

                      Comments about : 8" Pound-In Edging:

The best thing about this edging are the multiple depth options, which can really help with deeper lawn/weed runner roots that get under shorter edging (8-inches +, versus the 4-inches and shorter). Sure, short depth edging might keep mulch in place, but they don't necessarily help with the runner roots getting underneath them.
The only con is, if you are going to use a LOT (several boxes worth) of them, you might end up with tennis elbow like I did, from the repetitive motion of pounding. Be careful/mindful of this. Or, install in small spurts.
