We’ve all been there: lugging heavy bags of mulch to the car, straining our backs and making a mess. These dehydrated coir mulch blocks weigh just 9 pounds and are delivered right to your door. Just add water and in 20 minutes, you’ll have 2 cubic feet of earth-friendly mulch. Made from coconut husks, coir has better water retention than bark, and reduces the temperature and moisture fluctuation by 50%. Keeps its rich color, too.

I used this along a walkway under azaleas, and camellias and ferns. It looks great, and really keeps the moisture up. We live in Cali and had an inch of rain (a lot for us) and this product didn't budge or wash out. Looks pretty too.

          Comments about : Mulch Block:

I've tried all types of mulch at my place, and hated it all. Well, hate may be a strong word, but it never felt "right." I ordered this on the advice from a gardener friend primarily because I got a shoulder injury and can't lift heavy mulch and soil bags anymore. This stuff is LIGHT! It also stacks easily in a corner or out of the way. It IS a bit hard to crumble apart, so I'd suggest good leather gloves for that task. So far, I've put it around my ornamentals and it's remained where I put it with no shifting even in the heavy winds/rain we've had lately. It is contained in concrete pavers, but even so, it's better than the pine bark I usually use. My plan is to put a light layer around my vegetables then layer more if needed in a second spread. I don't want to alter my pH too much in the soil, so I'll monitor that. I also plan to put this down on the trackway between my raised beds. I think it will be quite nice for that in my 10X20 growing space. Pine bark just seemed to shift around too much down there, but the fibers of the coir seem to interlock almost like a mat, so I want to try it there. I would likely buy again if I needed it, and I've already recommended it to another friend with lifting issues.

I had tried some wood chip mulch from a garden center store. It was horrible from the start. There was all kinds of stuff in it, metal tubes, plastic pieces, 4x4 pieces of plywood, and roaches. The Mulch Block is amazing! It comes in a small block that is easy to move around, It is easy to use just soak in water then spread around. It stays in place even during heavy rain or strong wind. It also maintains a good color throughout the year. The best mulch ever!!

Sustainable coconut mulch slows weed growth but the best positive use is there isn't any dyes that leach into the soil or harm the plants

I've had to order 5 yards of mulch every year. This is my first year using these bricks. Much easier to use. I will say that I'll never go back to using regular mulch as it is not as back breaking as shoveling yards of mulch at one time.

I really like this product. It is better than mulch and does not decompose. Neighbors come by and ask me what it is and how it works. I pull out an unopen package and they are amazed.

I have tried many mulches for my veggie garden, over the years. My garden is organic but the lawn is not :-( so I can't use grass clippings. I have tried straw and one year it dropped some sort of seed that still causes grassy weeds every year that I have been unable to completely get rid of. Then I tried the paper type that comes in a roll. It surely suppressed the weeds but did not hold the moisture and only lasted half a season, plus the wind would get under it so it had to be held down with thick sticks. This is my first year trying this coir mulch and so far I love it. It has been on for only about a month so I can't say how long it will last, but it's very, very attractive, holds the moisture well, and I am shocked at how well it stays in place. I live where there has been nearly Biblical amounts of rain this spring and 95% of it has stayed put! Very happy, very impressed.

I love this mulch for my vegetable garden. It keeps the dirt from splattering up on my plants, looks better than straw, is not heavy to carry, and is easy to spread. I definitely recommend.
