Description

  • Decorative house attracts pollinating mason bees
  • Made from long-lasting bamboo
  • Mason bees are small, non-stinging beneficial insects

Boost your garden's productivity by providing a happy home for peaceful, non-stinging Mason bees. Slightly smaller than honeybees, mason bees are incredible pollinators. Each one visits as many as 1000 blooms per day — 20 times as many as a honeybee! Hang this natural bamboo house against a tree or wall where it will get morning sun and attract mason bees. Female bees fill the bamboo tubes with their eggs, and nectar and pollen for the young to eat.

            Comments about Mason Bee House:

In talking with experts, this is a poorly designed product. We are returning ours. There are multiple issues with this. The holes are too big for mason bees to use. They need 5/16" and the holes range from 1/2" to 3/4".
Mason bee houses should not swing. There is no way to mount this without it swing. Mason bees won't nest in it.
We're told you need to harvest cocoons from the holes in the fall. Bamboo can not be opened readily, so you wind up with pests overtaking things IF mason bees nest. This is a bad product.

              Comments about Mason Bee House:

Whoever said this was for Mason bees didn't know what they were talking about. The tubes and their holes are a variety of sizes (very few are large enough for Mason bees) and some "tubes" are completely solid with no opening. The "tubes" are locked in place and cannont be removed for Mason bee harvesting to protect during hibernation. Nice decorative item, but comnpletely USELESS as a Mason bee home.

                Comments about Mason Bee House:

Just got this bee house a couple weeks ago, and as soon as we hung it up, some bees moved right in! This provides a home for mason bees that are solitary bees that don't live in hives. They are great pollinators. Fun and educational addition to your garden.

I have it hanging in the cherry tree out by the vegetable garden. The busy bees now have a haven to protect them when a sudden storm pops up.
