This is an excellent watering system. We have a permaculture type food forest we're setting up with fruit tress, berry bushes, etc. This system has allowed us to easily water everything that needs it without wasting water.

We ended up setting up three different sections, as we have 30+ trees/bushes that need watering. Before getting this system it was taking us DAYS to water everything. Now we just run a section at a time and it's so much easier.

We were also happy to be able to buy extra hose and parts separately so we could get exactly what we needed to make our system work. Highly recommended!

So far we are enjoying the product and the ease it provides in keeping our veggie plants watered, without wasting a lot. It puts the moisture where you want it. Having read that tomato plants don't like their leaves to be wet, this year we decided to water from the bottom. I would say the only issue we had was that we purposely ordered the longer kit for multiple placements, but there is only one end connection for each type...there are plenty for intermediate linkage, but only one quick connect and final hose end. I would say add a few more of these and reduce the in=between fittings.

Be careful when going around a shrub or bush and watch out for kinks. Undo these carefully or else you end up with an unwanted hole. I don't have to water anymore. It's a wonderful time savior. If you do have a hole, use a tie to mend it and it will work like a charm. The drip drip soaks the shrubs and provides water right where it's needed. I waited a long time for something like this and finally I discovered it.

We have two gardens separated by lawn from the water outlet on the house. When installing the gardens we put in trenches and pipe from the house to gardens. We snaked the hose through the pipe up into the gardens, connected it to the soaker. The system is connected to a timer and the gardens are watered daily. We could not have done it without the trench and your system as we could not leave the hose on the lawn all season because the grass cutter would run over it. Works just fine.

                    Best Uses

This system has several advantages. One it is easy to use. Two, if you lay it out and don't like it, it's also easy to lift up, snip, clip, and re-arrange. Three, leaks in any connection component are (so far) non-existant. Four, the quality of the soaker hose itself is top-notch. Great porousness.

The kit comes with WAY too many extra middle units, and not enough end pieces or starter pieces. So don't think that this price is going to be your end cost -- you will likely wind up buying extra end/start connection bits, which they have priced fairly high for what they are. It would be better if they rised the price of the entire unit by, say, $10, provided extra components of all units, and then made the replacement components a less cost.

Also disappointing is that when you buy additional soaker hoses as replacement pieces, it only comes in 25' lengths, which is really just a boondoggle.

But, those complaints are about how the unit is structured for pricing. As a unit itself, and the quality of the unit, this really is very, very good. Very easy to use. Very easy to make changes to.

I purchased two of these systems to water my tomatoes, peppers and squash plants. In the photo attached, you will notice the soaker hose is under the weed barrier. I set up the hose system, then I put the plants in place. This system, plus the five, 20' long soaker hoses in the back side of the garden are all run off one timer that waters the garden at 4 AM for 30 minutes. This allows water to get deep in the ground, before the heat of the day tries to evaporate it. This is a dedicated system, but it works for me. At the end of the season, everything is put away until new season, when I'll set it up the same way. Also, check out my home made tomato cages.

I love everything about this system except that I need more of several parts to fit my exact landscape set-up, and GS doesn't sell all the parts separately. Specifically, this system can only link to one standard hose or faucet, and GS doesn't sell the faucet attachment (and end-of-line plugs) separately; therefore, if you want to water from 2 faucets or attach plants that are separated more than the length of the non-soaker hose included, you need to buy another complete kit. I bought the extra couplers, but that doesn't include the hose connector. Also, I wish GS sold more of the non-soaker hose for the system. Despite these problems (summarized as: it doesn't allow totally flexibility in set-up), I have bought 2 packages and love the system.

I have used a similar kit from Nelson for a few years, but these from Gardener's Supply are better. I just installed my first and like the versatility. The connection components for the faucet end and cap are handy in creating a layout that will fit any garden. It's also easy to reconfigure. I set up separate watering lines for individual gardens with quick connectors at one end hidden under a plant at a convenient location. Then I keep a water timer with a quick connect on the end of my hose most all the time. When I notice a garden needs water, I simply hook the hose up and set the timer for twenty minutes or so to give it a deep watering.

Liked this system enough that I just ordered two more kits.
