Additional Information

Insulated Composter Lets You Make High-Quality Compost Year-Round

  • Create nutrient-rich compost in 6 to 8 weeks — even in winter
  • Insulated chambers ensure proper heat build-up
  • Two rotating chambers for continuous composting
  • Durable and pest-proof

The insulation in the bins of this compost tumbler ensures that the composting material inside reaches higher temperatures than it would in an uninsulated bin — up to 160 degrees F.! This higher temperature results in faster, more efficient and more thorough composting. It also allows you to compost a wider range of materials, including those not recommended for most composters, including citrus fruit with rinds, avocado pits, meat, and fish and poultry with bones — as well as vegetable scraps and yard waste. The composter is easy to turn, and the dual chambers allow continuous composting — add scraps to one side while the other side "cooks." The Jora Composter is made with high-quality galvanized steel, with tight-fitting latches that exclude rodents and other pests.

My Jora rusted and it's unusable now

By White Lotus

from Temecula, CA

Pros

  • It's the only insulated drum composter

Cons

  • ...even though it's supposedly galvanized
  • It should be made of plastic. It rusts badly
  • You need to clean it and protect it from rust

Best Uses

Comments about : Joraform Composter 125:

I had my Jora composter for only 6 years and it is so rusty that I can no longer use it. Galvanized steel is supposed to be rust-free for decades. This composter is not worth the expense. Any liquid from kitchen scraps will leak out through the seams between the panels. Joraform told me that is what caused the rust--they said the liquid was acidic. If yours is leaking, you should wash it regularly with soap and water just in case that was the cause of the problem. Making it from plastic would solve this problem.

Comments about : Joraform Composter 125:

Wish it had a strap of some sort to hold the unit with the opening up on top when one is beginning a batch. Until it got some weight in it, it kept rolling due to weight of the door so that what I put in kept falling out.

Very sturdy. Looks like it will last a long time. I've had it about a month now and both sides are composting. Looking back, I would have gone with the Joraform again but one size up.

We have almost eliminated our kitchen waste, we make almond milk, green juice, even meat and bones. Our weekly garbage is down to one bag. Fast and with 2 compartments there is no down time.
