Exclusive | Eat Fresh: Grow Your Own Delicious Greens Year Round

Harvest fresh greens and herbs year-round in the My Greens Light Garden indoor herb garden kit. It’s compact enough — and attractive enough, too — to fit on most countertops. This all-in-one growing system includes two high-efficiency, high-output fluorescent lights that can be raised as plants grow, our proprietary self-watering system, and four growing trays. For a continual harvest, plant one tray every week or two — plants will reach harvest size at different times. Simply fill the tray with growing mix and plant your choice of seeds (there are no expensive seed modules or special fertilizer packs). When you’ve harvested a tray, simply wash it and replant. Grow spicy mixed greens to liven up bland supermarket salads; grow fresh herbs to save a fortune versus store-bought. My Greens is made for years of use and stores neatly away.

  • Light fixture, two T-5 bulbs, frame, four growing trays and waterproof reservoir base
  • 24" L x 15-3/4" W x 18-1/2" H
  • 19" cord with on/off switch
  • Each growing tray holds about 2 quarts of Germinating Mix, sold separately
  • Trays are top-rack dishwasher-safe
  • Gardener's Supply Exclusive

Comments about My Greens Light Garden:

I had difficulty obtaining an undamaged unit. After several broken bulbs and ballasts, I finally obtained what was required for operation. Even though I eventually obtained undamaged equipment, I did not appreciate Annie Reno's snarky response: "I also stated that because we couldn't seem to satisfy your needs, we would no longer be doing business with you." Instead of apologizing for all the problems, Annie Reno decided to cut me off?

This is the first time I have purchased a growing system to start plants. I am thrilled with what it is doing at school and I may need to buy one for personal use at home.

So far I've been very pleased with this Light Garden. My only "con" is that only one of the light bulbs worked.

Comments about My Greens Light Garden:

I hesitated for a long time before buying this. Specifically, I worried that the light bulbs would buzz and that the wicking capillary mat would not work.

I'm happy to say, neither fear panned out. The lights are completely silent, even to my hypersensitive hearing, and the capillary mat works a treat - far better than any other "self-watering" mechanism I've ever used. The mat does tend to get some mildew spots, but washing it and keeping it saturated seems to manage that just fine.

My lettuce and cilantro seedlings were so healthy, stocky, and lush that I quickly realized I could eat more greens than this bed could produce in a week, so I subsequently ordered a two-teir model as well.

Only complaints are that the mechanism for adjusting the height is a little odd (rubber O rings on the uprights), but that being said, it works better than the chain mechanism on Gardener's Supply's other light stands. I also think my cilantro might be a little too well watered; the flavor seems less strong than I'm used to, but that could also be the variety. Neither of these is a big enough problem to remove a star!

And Hooray for harvests while it's 10 below zero!!

Comments about My Greens Light Garden:

I love this garden. In fact, I bought a second after using the first for a short while. I like that it is an all-in-one garden. By this I mean, it contains the lights, stand, trays and water membrane all in one kit. I watched the video before using and had no difficulty. The lights are easy to raise and lower, and installation was easy. My husband and I have enjoyed a variety of greens to eat all winter. I have grown various lettuce types, swiss chard, kale, spinach and microgreens.

Comments about My Greens Light Garden:

I'm not a very good gardener, but I have a few herbs and lettuce in the summer, and I missed them this winter. I thought I would give this kit a try. I don't have a lot of space, and really poor indoor light, so I needed something with light and compact. And I needed something easy (see above). It was easy to put together, easy to use, and best of all, I'm cutting lettuce from it! The herbs are also growing well. I love the self-watering feature. It's a really great item!

Comments about My Greens Light Garden:

Overall impressions are that this system would be great for the kitchen gardener, growing herbs and small leafy greens with ease and little effort. In my experience growing indoors in my cube has been a great cure for the winter gardening blues, as well as served as some great motivating visuals for my fellow co-workers. Spring may be a distant dream, but a dream that comes true every day when I get to work and see my garden.

It is easy to put together. The top which holds the lights is adjustable depending on counter height and space. The self watering tray makes this product ideal if you travel and are not available to check the soil for watering needs daily.

Comments about My Greens Light Garden:

I love this garden. I planted my first one in November and was eating small greens in late December. I liked it so much that I bought a second one. They are easy to use and assemble, and seem to be well made. I planted mixed lettuce, kale, spinach, swiss chard, and microgreens. I fertilized them with PHC for seedlings and house plants, as well as tea compost from the worm composter. I used germinating mix. The only thing that I was not sure about was whether to add the fertilizer directly to the trays or in the reservoir. They did best when I added it directly to the trays, so I guess I have my answer.I plan to grow greens year round since it gets so hot here after April.
