Was very easy to set up and I can't wait to see our water bill...I'm sure it will be much less than last year. I also like the look of it - makes for a more attractive vegetable garden. It's a good way to avoid the powdery mildew I always get on my cucumbers from overhead watering.

Purchased for a small above the ground garden approximately 4' x 7'. Easy to install and works great. My only complaint is inserting the final hose end plugs into the soaker hose as at you have to be somewhat careful when doing so as it is pretty easy to tear the soaker hose.

I use this for watering my raised beds. I have two 3 x 3 and two 6 x 3. The end that is connected to the hose receives a lot of water and as you follow the lines the water decreases until the end where the flow is probably 1/3 than that at the beginning. I resolve that to a certain extent by flip flopping which end the hose connects to every other day. I am ambivalent towards this, I was expecting a more consistent flow.

We bought two sets for our raised garden beds. I laid the soaker hose where I wanted it & my husband snipped the ends & made the connections. Once we decided where to put it, it took only minutes to finish! Everything is working great & we added a timer. Two kits did (3) 4x8, (1) 13x9 & (1) 4x4 raised bed, separated by 4' walking paths. You will probably need an extra pack of staples. (We bought an extra pack & still could have used more, maybe an extra pack per kit.)

We decided to try the irrigation system this year since we have a good sized garden and we spend a lot of time watering. If we used a sprinkler system it was best to water early morning or later in the evening. We have this system hooked up so it runs whenever I turn our "River pump" on. Since it soaks into the ground around the roots I can do it anytime. The garden is doing great.

                          Best Uses

                          • Raised beds

My kitchen garden consists of 9 raised beds terraced into a hillside, with four rows of two and one row of one. I took this kit, added the angled couplers, a few extra pieces of hardware, and some extra hose, and in about half a day I have a beautifully efficient irrigation system.

The entire morning, I kept wondering how many leaks I would have when I turned it on for the first time. NOT ONE. And it's true. The only tool you need is a pair of scissors.

I found that it's important to cut the soaker hose straight across. If it is angled, it is easy to tear it as you are pushing it on to the coupler. It's also much easier to get a tight fit if the hose is warm from the sun. Wear a hat! And, it's a very good idea to leave a few extra inches in the soaker hoses that are going in raised beds. That way you have some leeway in where you lay them.

Just a note. If you are doing something different than the four rows in the basic plan, be sure to draw your plan up to scale and account for every part. Somehow I managed to fail to order an extra 3 Way Coupler and I was short of the hose by about five feet. No big deal, but I would have been much happier if I had gotten it all in one order.

And know, too, that some parts are not listed in the catalog, but the helpful Customer Service Reps can help you. I needed an extra end cap, since only 4 come in the kit.

To Gardeners Supply: A planning tool of some kind on your site would be helpful.

I set this soaker hose system up in a large cinderblock veggie bed that stair steps down a slope. This system waters all the tiers evenly and doesn't leak at the connectors. I'm building another cinderblock bed and will definitely order this soaker hose system again. This system works great in raised beds or would be great for rows of veggies.
