I HAD such high hopes

  • Soaker Hoses Get Splits

Best Uses

I purchased two sets of this product plus 4 extra 3 way connections and some extra end caps. When I saw this product I was really looking forward to a summer untethered to the garden watering hose.

It all set up like a charm. My son was a champ and really helped out. With the higher end auto timer I bought, it should have worked like a dream come true.

To my chagrin, the soaker hoses develop splits. The first occurred three days after set up. I figured I must have had the water pressure to high. Today I noticed my third split. I have the pressure down so low now that the hose doesn't soak the entire way down the hose.

This is a fantastic idea, but I would not recommend anyone buy it until they develop a better soaker hose.

Though expensive, almost $10 a pop, the 3 way connectors are ingenious and pop right on and off.

I'm out a chunk of change and I'm back to the horrible sprinkler.

The hose does what is suppose to and it lays out fine, but each and every fitting LEAKS even after resetting them, Is there magic to stop this leaking from happening?

          Best Soaker Hose Ever!

It works perfectly for me! The instructions weren't specific on which connectors fit which hose. I only needed one long soaker hose and the regular hose. I had a bit of difficulty figuring out how to hook it up on the triple connectors. Once I got it figured out, it quit separating and gushing. It does the job I had hoped for.

We use the product in our vegetable garden. Once you set it up, we just turn on the hose at the water faucet and don't worry about wasted water, or watering between the rows (so fewer weeds to control). It does deep watering so the roots grow deep. Love it!

Very easy to set up. I use this system, in my raised beds (square foot garden) mostly for vacation purposes. When it is all set up and on an automatic timer, I can head off for a two week vacation and know that all is well in my garden.

The only reason I don't give this product 5 stars is that there is an abundance of hose, and a limited amount of connector pieces. The 3-way connector can be purchased separately, but is pricey. I ended up buying 3 kits, just to get the connectors I needed, making it very expensive. Complete connector kits should be sold as a separate item.

We've had a push together soaker system for many years, and it was failing badly. Secondly it wan a real task and mess doing 14 rows. Found Gardener's on line and by chance gave their system a go. Well it goes together easily, distributes water evenly, and gives us maximum value on water used. 14 rows plus three rows of asparagus watered perfectly. Sure glad I gave their system a go. Lastly when fall comes it will come apart in minutes not a half day. Just a great system when water is a little precious.

The sprinkler system I began with sprayed water on the paths between the six 3x12 raised planters (planted with veggies) wasting more than half the water. The soaker system puts the water where you want it; at the roots. The hose is down the middle of the three foot wide planter. But, I've metered the output and (with my soil) the moisture distributes across the width at a five inch depth. If used with a timer, the water can be precisely measured by limiting the time. If you clamp a branch you can even limit the flow to a given planter.

I needed to supplement the system with added feeder hose and couplers, all of which installed easily. However, the fixed pressure reducer I purchased, that claimed to hold 10 PSI, did not work, causing two of the soaker hoses to rupture. An adjustable valve on the water feed to get the pressure just right, is strongly recommended. So far, it looks like soaking is the way to go.

I have a new 4 x 12 foot raised garden this year, and it took me all of 10 minutes to set up the entire irrigation system including programming my timer.
the three-way connectors make it easy to go around curves and corners. I've used a snip and drip system before and loved it. The only issue I've had is that our Tucson water is so hard that after 3 years of use, my old soaker hoses are nearly white and don't drip very well. Anyone who knows how to unclog the hose, please let me know.
