Burns leaves

    Comments about Garden Dust:

I bought the one-pound shaker can to control aphids on my long-bean plants. A duster would be impractical for my small garden, so I shook the dust onto my plants. It was impossible to get it evenly distributed or onto the undersides of the leaves without spreading it with my hands. It did keep the aphids away for a while, but it also burned the leaves.

    Comments about Garden Dust:

I was hoping that with all this rain that this product would work as labeled.
It was not very green, so it still looked like white dust on my plants. It did not stop the Japanese Beetles from devouring my hydrangeas and my young plum.
THe only time it worked for the beetles was when I shook the branch of my climbing hydrangea and dumped them in the box of powder.
I went back to my old bug killing procedures and now they're under control.
I guess I won't be buying this again!

    Comments about Garden Dust:

The Garden Dust has proven very effective in helping me keep my tomatoes producing in the face of several real challenges this summer. However, I will add two observations: To effectively apply the dust - you really need a dust applicator; otherwise it is a really near-impossible task. Second point - but this larger bag. The individual 1 lb containers just have too little product!

      Comments about Garden Dust:

This product was extremely messy to apply to my grapevines. It ended up all over me. I used it to prevent powdery mildew, but it was impossible to control when applying and went on too thick. Now, two weeks later, my grapevines still look terrible as they have this dust all over them.

      Comments about Garden Dust:

This product is sold in two contaianer types, a dusting can and a bag. The dusting can is far more useful as it can be applied directly to the target area. The bag material is difficult to use as it either requires a duster, which are generally no longer available, or must be mixed in liquid form which continuously clogs sprayers. Measuring and mixing the pesticide from the bag is difficult and messy. The dust is effective. Ease of use is not.

      Pros

        Cons

        • Better as a spray
        • Container not efficient

        • Inefficient
        • Messy

        Best Uses

          Comments about Garden Dust:

I found the holes in the container too large for an effective dusting. I did not get the pest control I was expecting with this product. Such a disappointment and the product is NOT inexpensive. The bean bugs did not seem affected at all nor did any brassica bugs. Thumbs down with disappointment.

            Comments about Garden Dust:

I had a host of issues to deal with, from aphids to powdery mildew, ants to unidentifiable critters that were all munching on my tomato, cucumber, pepper, strawberry and blueberry plants. Leaves were disappearing overnight leaving plants with just naked stems. I dusted the plants several times with Garden Dust and it saved the season. I've got a bunch of tomatoes and peppers sitting here in front of me. Cukes are STILL growing; have already harvested a basket full. I am very pleased with this product.

This dust works well on a wide varieties of vegetables and their troubles...bugs, slugs, and diseases. I find I have to use quite a bit of it and re-apply every week and a half or so, but it's worth it for all the good it does and because it's safe for edible plants.
