I'm excited to use these for my peas instead of nylon fencing! They fold to take up minimal storage space.

Comments about : Expandable Pea Trellis:

I use these trellises for snow peas, and also for my sugar snap peas that I grow on a fence, but they tend to flop over from the fence, so I put the trellises in front of the peas so they have support on two sides. The large openings make it easy to reach in to pick peas. When the peas are finished, I use them to support other crops in the garden.

These trellises can be used a variety of ways in the vegetable and flower garden. At the end of the season, they are compact and easy to store not like the tomato cages that have been on the market for years.

Hard to set up but great once in use

        By grannyj

        from CT

Comments about : Expandable Pea Trellis:

I use these for peas in the spring and then later in the summer for supporting everything from edamame to beans. These look really great and support much better than the old twine. But if you have to take them apart for storage or just to make a shorter row or two they are devilish to get back together. If either the hook or loop part is bent just a tiny bit in use it's a two person job and even then some of the "hinges" end up not meeting. I wish there were a more user friendly hinge system.

        Pros

        • Sturdy Support

        Cons

        • Sides Can Come Apart

        Best Uses

        • Raspberry Bushes

Comments about : Expandable Pea Trellis:

I have used for years to zig zag through my raspberry bushes. Good support for long canes. Can remove in winter for easier spring cleanup. The only problem I have is if the sides become disconnected it is very difficult to line up and re-attach. Would like it if it were more of a permanent hinge, still able to fold up when not in use.

        • Section Divider

Comments about : Expandable Pea Trellis:

I've used these trellises for years, they last forever, however as they age they can become hard to re fold. The prongs on the bottom bend out of shape fairly easily and that can bug me at times. I use these to block off freshly seeded areas and as a way to stop deer from getting to their favorites in my garden. I also use them as pea trellises and they work very nicely. It's amazing how you can't see them once they are in use, but the support and protect beautifully.

        Stands up to winds

Comments about : Expandable Pea Trellis:

My peas are not high enough yet to start covering the trellis, but I did want to mention that a recent bad storm came through here and I was in the path of the 79-90 mph winds that ripped through here. I'm glad to report the trellis' stood up to those winds with no problem.

My husband, who is 74, didn't want me to buy it. He has used chicken wire with wooden stakes his entire life. But I ordered 2 sections anyway, and the day it was delivered I told him I would send it back. "Oh no", he said, "It's wonderful, I'm already using it!" So I ordered 3 more sections, and I'll order more next year.

Comments about : Expandable Pea Trellis:

I think the trellis is well made & sturdy. Would have rated it higher, but I gave it 3 stars because it is a bit overpriced. Also, the instructions say to add stakes along the trellis so it won't be affected by wind; you need to use your own stakes. I think for the price of the trellis, the needed stakes should be included.
