Exclusive | The Eco Stack™ Composter: Simple, Affordable and Built to Last

  • Convenient composter transforms household waste into garden gold
  • Easy-to-use, "toss it in and forget it" design
  • Built to last, with tough, all-weather construction

Composting is the eco-friendly way to deal with your kitchen scraps and yard waste. The trick is to keep the process as simple as possible. Our Eco Stack Composter works like a traditional open compost pile, but in a small, self-contained stack that requires practically no effort. It costs less than many bargain compost bins, is simpler to use and much more durable. Unlike lightweight plastic compost bins, ours is made of thick, UV-stabilized polyethylene. It withstands the elements without bleaching, warping or cracking. There are no springs or clips to pop off, no hardware to rust. Easy to set up and use — just stack the sections. You don’t need to worry about keeping the compost moist or aerated, thanks to the rain-catching lid and bottom aeration vents. Best of all, there’s no turning. Once a year or whenever the composter is filled, just lift the sections off, move over, and fork uncomposted material back in. Despite its trim footprint, the Eco Stack Composter holds 7-1/2 bushels, and its tapered design and neutral brown color make it inconspicuous in your landscape. If you want a toss-it-in-and-forget-it compost bin that will give you years of service, the Eco Stack is it.

    Comments about Eco Stack™ Composter:

I used to own a stackable compost container that was the best ever. This one does not compare. The pyramid shape makes turning compost to aerate an ungainly proposition, the holes on top can let in too much water, and the holes at the bottom let in mice. I have never had a mouse problem before and as soon as I removed the bottom section with holes, my mouse problem went away. I am a master composter and have been doing it for years.

          Comments about Eco Stack™ Composter:

I bought this because I really liked the rain catching design of the lid. I would not purchase it again because it is absolutely not rodent proof. The holes near the bottom are big enough to let a mouse/vole through. Why couldn't they just change the larger holes into more numerous smaller holes? I could have even drilled my own. I spent so much time screening them off, I wish I would have just returned the product.

            Comments about Eco Stack™ Composter:

I just got started on this composter and can't say much yet about how well it works at this point. I like the way it's supposed to work. BUT the last one I had from you--perhaps 15 years ago (green, shaped like a barrel) worked great until recently when I developed a rodent problem. They enlarged all the holes on all sides! And unfortunately they've started the same thing on this new one. I've got a metal screen all around the bottom, but those itty bitty holes near the bottom have begun to undergo the same treatment. One, the biggest central one on one side is already about twice as big as it was just a few days ago. At this rate, I'm thinking of giving up composting!

              Comments about Eco Stack™ Composter:

I really like this Eco Stack Composter. It was very easy to setup. I put it at the end of my garden so all I have to do is remove each section and spread my compost when finished. I plan to use it in each of my gardens. No more hauling full shovels from my permanent compost bin to the garden. The top did fly off during a wind storm, that's the reason I only gave it 4 stars.

                Comments about Eco Stack™ Composter:

I've owned three composters before with the removal lid on the bottom that slid open. Those had the advantage of removing finished compost on the bottom but the lid would after a few years always came off its track. I then bought two of these eco-stack composters and have already made a finished batch in one. The finished compost is easy enough to remove, just remove the levels one at a time to make it easier. I highly recommend buying two of these, so that you can stop filling one of the composters when it is full and let it finish composting. I also recommend a rodent screen on the bottom to prevent rodents from getting in and an aeration tool to speed up the process. I prefer this type of composter as opposed to the kind that you can turn because I like having the earthworms do most of my work, so ground contact is crucial. The only con is that the lid is not hinged so you need both hands to remove the lid.

                Comments about Eco Stack™ Composter:

I've used a batch composter for years, bought this so I could add to it while a batch is finishing. Only issue has been mice and possibly baby rats getting through the air holes to feast on my kitchen scraps. My fix was to buy rodent screen down at the hardware store, covered the base and went up the sides to cover the air holes, then screwed it in from the outside so tips are pointing in. Photo attached. Bonus: should be an easy way to filter the finished compost and leave the big stuff in the composter!

It is light weight so I put a wire fence around it to keep the dogs from knocking it over. It would need to be anchored down from wind and racoons in my area.It is a great asset next to my leaf bin. I love it for kitchen scraps.

                      Comments about Eco Stack™ Composter:

While this has a little less volume than the composter it replaced, overall it seems to do a better job of keeping debris compact and breaking it down more quickly. My issue is going to be emptying it. My old composter had a door at the bottom: shovel out the rich stuff on the bottom, the newer stuff drops down to fill its place, and you keep piling on top. To get to the bottom stuff on this model, I'll have to completely empty it, pull off the newer stuff into a pile, then rebuild it and replace the new stuff. On an annual basis, not the worst thing, but I like to pull bits out throughout the spring and early summer, and this is going to be harder to use that way.
