Exclusive | Earth-Friendly Coco Coir for Planting, Composting and More!

  • An effective and economical planting mix for use in containers
  • Earth-friendly coir is derived from coconut husks
  • Layer coir with kitchen scraps in your compost bin
  • May be added to garden beds to loosen clay soil

Our exclusive Eco-co® is an earth-friendly planting mix derived from coconut husks. It’s perfect to use on its own as a planting mix in pots, planters and window boxes, or as a peat-free alternative when you make your own planting mixes. Unlike other coirs, our Eco-co Coir undergoes a special process to remove salts and to balance the pH for optimal plant growth. Eco-co Coir has excellent water-holding capacity yet drains well — so important for healthy root growth. Our blend is a mix of fine and coarse grinds to provide the perfect environment for plant roots. Carbon-rich coir is also handy for layering with nitrogen-rich kitchen scraps and lawn clippings in the compost pile. It also makes a good bedding material for worm composters. Simply add water and each convenient compressed brick expands to 10 quarts of fluffy mix.

  • Horticultural-grade coconut coir
  • Brick dimensions: 8-1/4" L x 5-1/2" W x 2" H
  • Each brick expands to 10 quarts of mix

Great alternative to peat moss

By Pam

from Hickory, NC

Verified Buyer

Pros

  • Light to carry
  • Mixed Easily
  • Renewable resource

Cons

    Best Uses

I used this coir product in place of peat moss in a raised bed. It is very easy to mix with compost and vermiculite, MUCH lighter to carry than bags of peat moss, and is a renewable resource. I will buy it again.

I've just started using these magic bricks this season, and I'm finishing up my 3rd bulk buy. So far I'm using it to cut traditional potting soil. The combination is like silk. The coir makes the soil light and airy, yet absorbs so well that water soaks right in and stays there until plants need it. My flowers and veggies love it. I've event mixed it with used potting soil and some of your container booster, and the plants don't seem to know that they are inhabiting "left-overs." Will send pictures once things really take off.

This is the second year I have used coir as a top dressing around my plants as it helps keeps weeds down during the growing season. The best part of this product is the way it helps break up and enrich the compacted soil in my garden and potted plants. I'll be buying more again next season.

                • Refresh Elevated Soil Bed

Initially purchased to use for seed starting . But I also had purchased the germination mix. Germination mix won hands down. Coir seemed to stay too wet and seedlings did not grow as well as in germination mix. Still like the product though to use for refreshing container mix in my elevated beds outdoors. Will also use to mix with potting soil for outdoor pots. Easy to store and use. Like that it's Earth friendly.

                Best Uses

                • Lightens Seedling Mixes

i use this to lighten and aerate standard seed germinating mixes to use for post germinating transplanting. this then makes a good growing medium. straight seed mix compacts too much and not good for root growth. this product has a good mix of fine textured coir and a few larger size pieces for a nice texture. a bit pricey for large scale use, but great addition in place of peat moss.
