    Turns pink in one season

    Pros

    • Compact Storage
    • Durable
    • Great For Pea Pods
    • Never Falls Over
    • Shades Little Crops

    Cons

    • Difficult to assemble
    • needs anchoring
    • Red Turns Pink
    • Too Short For Cucumbers

    Best Uses

    • Pea Pods

I bought two of these trellises. The coil hinges (spiral clips) were very difficult to put on and scratched the paint off the edge of the trellis, now rusting. Once the hinges were attached, they work like a hinge is supposed to. Now at the end of the first season, the trellises clean up and put away flat. However, they are no longer the lovely dark red color -- they are a medium to light pink. While the color doesn't affect the trellis ability to work, I have many red supports in my garden that are still the dark red they started as. I just wish these maintained their color because I love color in my garden (but not pink). Also, while pea pods worked just great with the trellis, my climbing cucumbers went up the top and back down the other side of the trellis and off on the ground on that side -- meaning the trellis isn't tall enough. In addition, I needed to anchor the bottoms of these so they didn't move. I don't think they would fall over; however, they do scoot and so they spread out (which lowers the height). So either bury them with many inches of dirt (which lowers the overall height) or use anchors. A positive, though, is that I planted onions and beets under the arch of the trellis. This provided a great start to those plants and utilized ALL the garden space.

      • Coil Hinge Awful

      Best Uses

My daughter purchased one in the Spring. It was a snap to put together. I purchased another one for my other daughter as a gift and it was not exactly as the one purchased earlier. The coil hinges were just about impossible to put on. I ended up using nylon zip ties as the hinges. It works just as well but I was not satisfied.

More uses for this than cucumbers!

I use these panels for many things other than cucumbers. For example, I use slip-ties to anchor them to metal garden post between sections and at the end of the run. All my running things such as cantaloupe, Lima beans, sweet peas, etc. climb readily with a little help from my guiding hand. Love them.

I am using this trellis for my cucumbers. It looks great and really holds up my long and heavy cucumbers. Just a beautiful trellis.
Though, was a bit difficult to assemble as the instructions are too brief. Couldn't easily put the rod in the hole- too much excess green paint in the hole made it hard to put together. Also springs for hinge scratch off green paint on trellis and now is rusting in that area on the top of the trellis. I will have to paint a rust retarder by summer's end.

Heavy duty material but will it last

              Best Uses

              • Reduce Growing Footprint

I purchased 2 of these Treliss in order to expand the capacity of my garden. I was able to start the season growing Snap peas on the Trellis and lettuce under the A frame. As soon as these crops finished I began using it for cucumbers. They work great but when I moved them I did notice some rust beginning on the legs. I hope that due to the heavy gauge, that I will still get many years out of this product. I did have a little difficulty assembling this product which did also cause some of the paint to come off.

Read the other reviews to learn how to assemble...once we did that, it was a breeze. The key is not to force it together. I would prefer a taller trellis for cucumbers....this does a decent job, but I would prefer more height. We have three cucumber plants....including the long English variety...and this keeps most of the fruit/veggie off the ground.

My English cucumbers were already taller than 4' when I purchased this trellis, so I hope they will use the extra side to climb on. It defines the space well. Wish it were taller, but it is sturdy and well made.
