I have several of these

Pros

  • Very well made

Cons

    Best Uses

    • Cucumber And Squash Vines

It was a bit complicated to assemble at first. But when I got the hang of it, it was very easy. The coils are an excellent way to keep the panels together while still making the flexible. I used it for cucumbers and squash. I would recommend this product.

Use trellis for our cucumber plants

The curly springs to connect the trellis were so difficult to put on for us - it took us a long time to put together and didn't want to break them - too stiff and did not want to bend

Looks great in the garden, and will probably support the squash just fine. But I wish I had read the reviews before I tried putting it together. I would have just bypassed the coil connectors and gone straight to the zip ties, saving myself the struggle.I even had to use ties to reinforce the two panels on one side together, as the tolerances for the hole and insert part were a bit off.

Just purchased it this spring. Overall this product is well designed, solid, and is a great idea for keeping cucumber vines and other vining plants off the soil. I have a very small garden, fenced all around. Instead of both panels on the ground, I have one end resting on the top of the garden fence, which saved even more space for me. The only drawback is serious enough in my opinion, that I am writing a review, which I rarely do. The problem is attaching the wire springs that hold the two folding panels together. Like the trellis, they are "sturdy", made of heavy gauge wire. I appreciate that they're not made of plastic, which doesn't last, but they are very hard to put in place. It was frustrating and took a LONG time. In the process the enamel coating on the trellis got scratched pretty badly, which means eventual rusting unless I buy some enamel paint to touch it up.

So unhappy with this purchase. I bought these in red to match the tomato cages I had purchased. They have faded to pink.

                            Best Uses

The spiral metal hinges which hold the two sides together were a big problem to install. We finally settled for having them partially installed as they were definitely holding the two sides together. Then we took it to the garden and it is so far working just great for two cucumber plants (one on each side) and two zucchini plants. It is sturdy and the trellis openings are an appropriate size.

The trellis is a great way to grow cukes and watermelons without using a huge amount of garden space. The only thing I found difficult to use were the connectors that hold the trellis together. Was able to get the two on the outside edges, but couldn't get the inner ones on. Ended up using cable ties which work just as well.

Recently purchased the trellis, and it is as others said -- somewhat difficult to assemble. I never did get all of the springs to successfully go around the trellis, but I think it's good enough. My cucumbers are not tall enough to grasp onto the trellis, but being able to use the room underneath is wonderful.

I haven't had much luck with cucumbers in many years, I'm hoping this trellis will make a difference.

Three stars only due to difficult assembly.
