Great trellis

Pros

  • Cucumbers Like It

Cons

    • Cucumbers Vines

This trellis is wonderful. Cucumbers always grow taller than anything I have to support them, and on this they can grow up one side and down the other.

It's a little tricky to put together and I would recommend anyone with arthritis in their hands have someone else screw the little fasteners on. I don't have arthritis but I do have fibromyalgia and it was a little hard on my hands. I think I'd design a different connector/fastener.

But overall I love this and so do my cucumbers!

    Not A Perfect Assembly

Product is difficult to assemble. The parts do not seem to fit exactly. Coils are very difficult to place on top. I was able to do two at ends, but forget about the center.
Just received product and can't wait to use, probably next summer.

Putting on the springs is easy!

for all the folks getting stuck with the springs on this frame, there is an easy way, and a really, really hard way.
First the hard way- if you try and screw on the spring to anywhere other than the right or left corner of the trellis, then it gets really hard, really quickly, due to spring tension and friction. So, don't try it this way (even if it seems logical for the two inner springs)
The easy way- screw on the spring from the right or left hand corner, then keep screwing it past each trellis junction until you have two near the middle, and two on each end. They just spin on, without the least resistance- hope this helps!

The cucumber trellis does what it claims and even more than that. It adds more growing space to my small raised bed because I can let my crawling, vining veggies reach for the sun and then use the space under the trellis for growing lettuce in quick succession.

It was a bit complicated to assemble at first. But when I got the hang of it, it was very easy. The coils are an excellent way to keep the panels together while still making the flexible. I used it for cucumbers and squash. I would recommend this product.

Use trellis for our cucumber plants

The curly springs to connect the trellis were so difficult to put on for us - it took us a long time to put together and didn't want to break them - too stiff and did not want to bend

Looks great in the garden, and will probably support the squash just fine. But I wish I had read the reviews before I tried putting it together. I would have just bypassed the coil connectors and gone straight to the zip ties, saving myself the struggle.I even had to use ties to reinforce the two panels on one side together, as the tolerances for the hole and insert part were a bit off.

Just purchased it this spring. Overall this product is well designed, solid, and is a great idea for keeping cucumber vines and other vining plants off the soil. I have a very small garden, fenced all around. Instead of both panels on the ground, I have one end resting on the top of the garden fence, which saved even more space for me. The only drawback is serious enough in my opinion, that I am writing a review, which I rarely do. The problem is attaching the wire springs that hold the two folding panels together. Like the trellis, they are "sturdy", made of heavy gauge wire. I appreciate that they're not made of plastic, which doesn't last, but they are very hard to put in place. It was frustrating and took a LONG time. In the process the enamel coating on the trellis got scratched pretty badly, which means eventual rusting unless I buy some enamel paint to touch it up.

So unhappy with this purchase. I bought these in red to match the tomato cages I had purchased. They have faded to pink.
