Biodegradable, Eco-Friendly Cowpots™ for Transplants

  • Completely biodegradable pots make seedstarting easy
  • Transplant seedlings, pot and all, directly into garden, reducing transplant shock
  • Pots add nutrients to the soil as they degrade

Plants thrive in these award-winning biodegradable transplant pots. Cowpots™ are the patent-pending invention of Matt and Ben Freund, two Connecticut dairy farmers who were looking for an environmentally responsible way to dispose of cow manure. The manure is dried, completely composted, mixed with natural fibers, and pressed into pots. Gardeners love Cowpots because they are odorless and free of weed seeds. Plants love Cowpots too, because transplant shock is greatly reduced. Best of all, Cowpots are 100% biodegradable. They last for months in the greenhouse or windowsill, but will dissolve within weeks after planting in the garden, providing essential organic nutrients. We are very excited about Cowpots, and recommend them to any gardener who wants to increase plant health and reduce waste.

100% Biodegradable
  • Made of composted cow manure
  • 100% biodegradable

        Comments about Biodegradable Cowpots™:

Cowpots are great for starting seeds of squash and melons, as well as holding starts of tomatoes and other seedlings, and the walls stand up well even when breached by plant roots. Plants can go into the soil container and all; we use special care to make sure no part shows above soil level.

          Comments about Biodegradable Cowpots™:

I've been using these for several years to start my tomato, herb and flower seeds. They are sturdy enough to start seeds inside 2 months ahead of time. The roots grow thru the pot. And, they break down providing nutrients--I've never had peat pots break down well.

                  Comments about Biodegradable Cowpots™:

I bought the small 2+inch pots & planted both Sungold Cherries & some Beefsteak tomatoes about a month ago. So far, all the seedlings have grown about 3 inches, getting 2nd sets of leaves, & look very healthy. Now I'm ready to transfer to larger cowpots, but they aren't available! Now what do I do? I haven't found a product similar to these in stores here in Maryland.
