Biodegradable, Eco-Friendly Cowpots™ for Transplants

  • Completely biodegradable pots make seedstarting easy
  • Transplant seedlings, pot and all, directly into garden, reducing transplant shock
  • Pots add nutrients to the soil as they degrade

Plants thrive in these award-winning biodegradable transplant pots. Cowpots™ are the patent-pending invention of Matt and Ben Freund, two Connecticut dairy farmers who were looking for an environmentally responsible way to dispose of cow manure. The manure is dried, completely composted, mixed with natural fibers, and pressed into pots. Gardeners love Cowpots because they are odorless and free of weed seeds. Plants love Cowpots too, because transplant shock is greatly reduced. Best of all, Cowpots are 100% biodegradable. They last for months in the greenhouse or windowsill, but will dissolve within weeks after planting in the garden, providing essential organic nutrients. We are very excited about Cowpots, and recommend them to any gardener who wants to increase plant health and reduce waste.

100% Biodegradable
  • Made of composted cow manure
  • 100% biodegradable

    Comments about Biodegradable Cowpots™:

Have used these for the 2nd year for all my veggie transplants (grown from seed) - the plants love the extra food provided by the cowpots, making the roots grow right through the pot. When I see the roots come through, I know it's time to plant into the garden, pot and all, so no transplant shock! Love these, well worth the money.

      Comments about Biodegradable Cowpots™:

This is my second year using the cowpots. I tried them last year for my first garden and loved the fact that I could plant them directly into the ground. I didn't have any transplant problems and they deteriorated quickly helping to feed my plants and allowing the roots to spread. The only problem I had last year was over watering. A few of them did get a little moldy but it didn't seem to bother the plants. This year I'm being more careful with the water and after almost a month they still look fine, no mold. It does say on the packaging that they absorb water so to be careful not to over water.

Did a comparison between peat pots and cow pots. The cow pot transplants look healthier and are bigger than the peat pot ones (same plants, started and transplanted same day). This was my first time using them so I don't know if the fruits will be better in the end.

These are working great for all my veggie starts. For my needs I think it would be nice to have a set of 8 slightly smaller pots rather than 6 so that I could fit more sets into a seedling tray.
