Comments about Green Stoneware Compost Crock:

Looking good sitting on the kitchen counter. It looks like an old time crock but is really a cleverly disguised scrap container for compost. Watch for mold on the filter in the lid but this can just be rinsed away and replaced. Great product.

Comments about Green Stoneware Compost Crock:

Nice, but using the word "crock" implies that this item is made of a much heavier crockery material and the jug is even painted to mimic old style crocks. But, it is actually made of a lighter weight material. Maybe this is OK as true crockery would be pretty heavy especially when filled. It would have nice to know ahead of time that it is not actually crockery, though.

Comments about Green Stoneware Compost Crock:

An attractive, good-sized, wide-mouthed, ventilated ceramic container with a sturdy handle and charcoal filter, this compost crock is fine for setting out within easy reach on the counter. Its one and only drawback is that it is not glazed internally, which would make cleaning it out and drying it periodically both faster and easier.

I had never even heard of such a product until I was at Cost Plus. They had one style that looked like a fire hydrant. I didn't like it but it caused me to look for such a thing on the internet. I found it and now I can't live without it. No stink, looks great and reduces my green waste that usually ends up in the garbage disposal by 95%. It's the best!

Comments about Green Stoneware Compost Crock:

Love this compost crock. It looks great in my old farmhouse kitchen. It holds enough to be useful, but not so much that you might be tempted to leave it too long. I take it out and empty it every 2-3 days, give it a quick rinse with the hose on my way back to the house, and I'm done.
The only problem is that someone might mistake it for a cookie jar and get a nasty surprise!

It is very attractive on my kitchen counter. No smells, yet fruit flies still gather around it. The charcoal filter grew mold in just 2 weeks, but I washed it in hot water and it seems to be fine.
