Comments about : Kitchen Compost Bags, 100:

This is a really great product and they are really well made. The hold quite a bit of scraps for a few days before the bag gets soggy. Even then, they still hold their weight without ripping or shredding. They do a good job of holding odors in.

I also like that they tear easily along the perforation and open easily. I've tried other bags that rip down the sides too easily.

Does NOT Compost as Advertised

By TN Gardener

from Chattanooga, TN

Pros

  • Convenient for collecting compost

Cons

  • The bag itself does not compost

Best Uses

Comments about : Kitchen Compost Bags, 100:

These bags are convenient, which is why we use them. That said, they DO NOT compost as advertised. At the point in time when we are spreading our lovely rich compost, the bags are still there--just as we left them--and we are picking them out of the compost as we spread. After a few rounds of "pick out the yucky compost bag" we now use them simply as a transport method. We use them for collecting compost material, carry it out to the compost bin, and dump them out. If you think you are purchasing a bag that is truly compostable, think again. I would recommend with caution.

    This is a repeat purchase

The best. Lasts longer, is bigger with enough length to tie a good knot and doesn't disintegrate into a gooey mess. Cost per unit a tad higher than local market but lasts longer so winds up cheaper. Highly recommended.

Comments about : Kitchen Compost Bags, 100:

These bags are great for lining the container I use to collect any vegetable discards. Then it is easy to just tip the entire contents into the composter, as the bags are biodegradeable. No polution problem here.
Did find if a lot of liquid gets in, they may leak, as too heavy for fabric.
Have used these liners for a long time. Love them.

    Needs improvement

Comments about : Kitchen Compost Bags, 100:

I like the idea of these bags more than the bags themselves. I have two major complaints: 1) When trying to separate the bags at the perforation, they often tear into the bag, rendering it unusable. 2) If the bags aren't removed every 4-5 days --especially if the contents have a lot of moisture, the bag begins to disintegrate, leaving a mess in the compost can. Double bagging helps, but a stronger bag would be preferable.

Nice to have a biodegradable bag

How nice to have compostable bags that can be put into our "green bin" for pick up by the city. They aren't real strong - so if your garbage is heavy you may want to only fill half full. I will be ordering more.
