      Self-watering rolling pot

I have a large Norfolk pine, which I purchased when it was small in size and very manageable. It grew. Norfolk pines are no fun to re-pot; very prickly. After doing so or several years, the tree became top heavy no matter what the size of the pot. So I am giving my tree a last shot at life by re-potting it in the largest of these self-watering pots, and so far so good. I have it outside on my deck in summer, and in the new pot it has managed to stay upright despite a few wind and rain storms. I am hoping it isn't too hard to wheel it inside in winter.

            • Spillover Is Messy

            Best Uses

I love the color, but I can hardly move it now that it is planted. Needs bigger casters that turn in every direction.

The water from the reservoir overflowed, and it left a dirty stain on the pavement.

Other than that, I love it. The color and shape are very pleasing.

              • Watering Hole Too Small

              Best Uses

The hole on the side into which you put water is too small. It can only be used with a hose. Unfortunately, my garden is on my condo balcony, and I don't have an outlet for a hose. All watering is done via jugs or pails of water.

Just wish it was a little sturdier so could be left out over winter in the NW

I initially ordered one of these as I wanted to be sure the trellis I wanted to put inside it would fit and be stable in strong winds. It was a perfect fit. I now have two bright white base planters for my Black-eyed Susan vines to grow from over the summer! It is early in the summer to have put the self-water mechanism to test, but I have bought other self-watering planters and pots from Gardners, and they work great.

Beautiful pot - got the black one. Difficult to move across decking that has gaps between the planks. Other than that I love it. A handle or grip would be nice - it's difficult to get a grip on the pot when it is planted and wet -- a bit slick.
