Additional Information

Exclusive | Earth-Friendly Coco Coir for Composting, Planting and More!

  • Carbon-rich coir balances nitrogen-rich kitchen scraps in the compost pile
  • Hydrate these coir bricks for an effective and economical container mix
  • May be added to garden beds to loosen clay soil
  • Pack of 12 bricks

Derived from coconut husks, carbon-rich Eco-co® Coir is handy for layering with nitrogen-rich kitchen scraps and lawn clippings in the compost pile, and it makes a good bedding material for worm composters. Our exclusive Eco-co® Coir is also an earth-friendly planting mix for use in pots, planters and window boxes, or as a peat-free alternative when you make your own planting mixes. Unlike other coirs, our Eco-co Coir undergoes a special process to remove salts and to balance the pH for optimal plant growth. Eco-co Coir has excellent water-holding capacity yet drains well — so important for healthy root growth. Our blend is a mix of fine and coarse grinds to provide the perfect environment for plant roots. Simply add water and each convenient compressed brick expands to 10 quarts of fluffy mix.

Comments about : Eco-co® Coir Bricks, Pack of 12:

Have purchased this product for at least the last three years. Mix it with my soils and use in my worm bin. As I said above...iI store it in my plant room until ready to use. Does not take up the space bags of soil and amendments do. Do not need assistance using it. Meaning as a senior citizen, I usually need my son to bring my bagged products (soil, compost, manure etc) to my garden. Helps keep my soil loose and is organic.

I like the size of the bricks, because I can hydrate one and add it to my tumbling composter for some "brown material" It saves me hauling mulch from the nursery.

Comments about : Eco-co® Coir Bricks, Pack of 12:

This is my second 12 pack, much better than peat moss, wets instantly and a renewable source. I garden in large containers and have also used this to lighten native soil. It expands rapidly and is easy to use. For smaller amounts I put two inches of hot water in a bucket and stand a block upright in the water. With peat moss the starter cells can actually float out of the pot and not get wet, that doesn't happen with Coir products it soaks up the water instantly.

Comments about : Eco-co® Coir Bricks, Pack of 12:

Getting these coir bricks by the dozen brings the cost closer to that of environment-ravaging commercial peat moss, and the coir takes longer to decompose, so you have the benefits of a fluffy soil lasting longer.

I'm an avid Brugmansia (angels trumpet) grower. These cuttings often rot from too much moisture. But when I use Coir, it's perfect! Never soggy when used as directed. It even seems to help resist rot. My cuttings root vigorously when I use this product. I buy it by the 12 pack, it's so reasonably priced. I buy it every year and love it!
