Comments about : Biodegradable Weed Mat:

I have used this in 2 parts of my yard that I've converted from grass to beds of flowers and shrubs. While some small weeds pop up in the soil that was laid on top of this paper, I haven't had any of the grass that I pulled out return. The paper can be unwieldy. I had to use large rocks to hold down strips of it before I shoveled several inched of dirt on top, but once I did that, I had no problems. I cut holes in it to insert my plants, and things have been going great ever since.

Comments about : Biodegradable Weed Mat:

I used this in new raised flowering plant beds. I needed something to keep the grass which I had pulled up from coming back. Didn't use staples, just a few rocks until I had thrown all the new soil on top of it and the weight of that held the paper down. Only weeds I got were ones that took root above the paper. Sometimes its rather stiff and tears where I don't want it to, but this paper works well for me.

Use this instead of weed barrier fabric. It breaks down as your plants establish themselves and is much better for the soil than the plasticy fabric

I discovered the weed mat only after I had already planted my green beans and tomatoes. I cut the paper to fit around them (like making paper dolls), and put down several inches on cypress bark mulch over the paper. I tried this on approximately half my garden, as an experiment. So far I have not a single weed! It absorbs water just fine and helps keep the ground moist, so less watering. I will buy more next year to complete the remainder of my garden mulching job. Fantastic product!

I use this to cover my gardens for the winter. I also used it to keep the bee yard free of overgrowth since bees don't care to have lawn mowers around their homes. This is heavy duty stuff that covers a large area.

I have been using the recycled paper mat from Gardener's Supply for three years. It is much better than the plastic matting. It is a bit harder to put down but worth the extra effort. Keeps weeds down, passes water around the plants and tills back into the soil in the Autumn. Works b est with the garden staples AND the plastic disks.

Comments about : Biodegradable Weed Mat:

I used this last year in part of my garden, plastic in the rest. I used bricks at the ends and those plastic "push pin" type staples along the edges. I used it between tomato rows where I don't walk much during the early part of the season, and by the time it had been rained on a few times it "settled" into the soil and seemed less prone to tearing.

The best part (s): No weeds grew on this paper, but I had some determined weeds that grew right through the neighboring plastic. And when the season was over, the paper had pretty much disappeared, but I had yards of muddy plastic to throw away.

I read the reviews and laugh that people were upset that the PAPER blew away in the wind and that it would tear when using staples, or that you had to use 2x4s to hold it down. This is a paper product so what do you expect. A bit of problem solving and you have a fantastic weed barrier in your garden.

I have used this product for a few years. Put the paper down at one end of the bed or row. Place a few rocks or a 2x4 (yup I use on on the end of the paper and roll it out. Place some rocks or 2x4 at the other end. Cut with a scissor or sharp knife and you are ready.

I cut holes in the paper for plants, I cut rows in the paper for seeds. I now use some rebar laid across the paper to hold things down.

I get an an entire season of use out of the paper. IT HOLDS up!

This product was a total waste. I used both staples and garden pins to hold paper down in raised beds. First storm with rain/wind and it ripped and blew off in pieces. Not one to give up, removed damaged paper and reapplied with more staples and pins...next storm same thing happened. Would return but difficult to wrap wet, ripped paper.
