Great looking on the kitchen counter. Only problem is the lid filters are now unavailable, no more filters.

Apple scrap container

By quietmonkey

from Morgantown,Pa

Verified Buyer

Although the product looks great, The sour flies go crazy on it. The lid does not fit tight enough to prevent odors and flies from entering and exiting. If the lid had some type of plastic attached to the lip of the lid where it seals, this would keep the container sealed and prevent escape of odors. Although the charcoal insert in the lid seems to have been designed for odors, when the lid isn't tight, it doesnt mater what amount of charcoal filter is used.

Apple Compost pail

Pros

  • Very Cute Setting Setting

Cons

    Best Uses

it is used for collecting kitchen scraps for the com-poster. The charcoal replacement filters are not wide enough so now I get fruit flies in it. This replaced the garbage can style I had that broke. Now I wish I would have ordered the same style I had.

          Just not working for me

          By PJ

          Pros

          • Looks Nice On My Counter

          Cons

          • Heavy
          • Lid Not Hinged

          Best Uses

Unlike my previous container it does not have a hinged lid that I can flip up with one hand. I did not think about this when I purchased it. I often have something in my hand (i.e. a banana or orange) and want to drop debris into the container as I peel, which requires 2 hands. With the Apple I need to take top off & put on counter, which means after I put it back I need to take a paper towel or sponge and wipe off the counter.
