        Comments about Self-Watering Conversion Kits:

I set this up (1-gal size) with a huge pot and one jasmine plant. This size requires a huge pot and even then the reservoir takes up about a third of the space. The filling tube is too short; even at its highest setting it didn't reach the top of the pot. I'd say it needs to be at least 3 or 4 inches longer. Filling it is awkward, may need a funnel. The lid doesn't stay shut. I set it up with a fabric wick, as described by another reviewer. The plastic gizmo that's supposed to indicate the reservoir level seems to be just about useless. I've only just set it up and time will tell how effective it will be.

These did not work for me. I purchased two for my outdoor pots because we are gone a lot, but I always found my plants to be dry and had to water from the top, even though water was in the reservoir. Must be doing something wrong, but for me they were a waste of money and plastic. Also one of the lids broke off right after installation.

                  Comments about Self-Watering Conversion Kits:

Having just moved to this desert-like area, I plan to put all my plants in self-watering containers. When I saw these conversion kits at a reasonable price, I was delighted. I eagerly unpacked them and snapped them together. The large size fit perfectly in a 14" rounded vase-type glazed ceramic container. However, I also wanted to convert a very expensive and beautiful 18" diameter glazed, rounded vase-like ceramic pot (probably 20" at its very widest part). It did not fit. The "petals" around the sides did not touch the sides of the pot when the reservoir was resting on the bottom of the pot. The lid of a 5 gallon bucket fits perfectly in the bottom, so guess I'll have to jury-rig a substitute. I have a fairly shallow terra cotta pot that is 18" in diameter, Neither the large nor the small adapter fit this one. The small size fit perfectly in a standard 12" diameter, 11" high terra cotta pot. I will report further after planting and using these kits. The only reason for the 3-star rating was that the large size did not fit an 18" pot as advertised. I tried to upload some helpful images. Unfortunately, the "Add images or videos" button took me to a blank screen, after which nothing happened. I waited several minutes and still nothing.

                    Comments about Self-Watering Conversion Kits:

I use these in large, decorative pots to keep
multiple plants well hydrated during the growing
season. I use potting mix so roots aren't compacted which dries out in a heart beat. These
easily filled reservoirs keep plants from drying out on a daily basis-plants are super healthy and
bloom like crazy (I also add soluble fertilizer
                    when watering.

I need a pop of color outdoors in a drought-afflicted area. Putting flowers in self-watering pots was a no-brainer. I don't have to worry about them drying out in the blazing heat. When we are awy, my son can come and water once a week. I need to get more of these!

I ordered these to use in one 12 inch pot and 2 14 inch pots. The reservoir and screen fit well in the 12 inch, but not so well in the 14 inch. I notices these kits are cheaply made. We'll see.
