Support heavy blooms and prevent unsightly flopping
Adjustable; use as many sections as you need
Handy for supporting other top-heavy flowers, too
Amaryllis are so dramatic and elegant, but the top-heavy blooms are also prone to flopping and toppling over their pots. This brass sectional stake is a versatile and elegant way to support amaryllis stems and keep them beautifully upright. It consists of four brass rods plus a top loop; use as many rods as you need, depending on the height of your amaryllis, and top with the loop. Insert the stake into the soil, taking care not to damage the amaryllis bulb, and then place the amaryllis stem into the loop. Using all four rods gives you a 22-3/4" stake — plenty tall for your biggest amaryllis varieties. Use fewer rods for shorter varieties.
I was looking for something sturdy and attractive to hold up the long droopy stems of a favorite houseplant. I liked the idea of the adjustable rods. However, they are very flimsy, and the sections do not fit together consistently well (some joints are better than others). With more than one section, the rod is very unstable, bendable, and not reliably straight. If you try to move the rod, it is very likely to fall apart in your hands. At the longer lengths, it would be much more functional if it were thicker and stronger, and if the joints fit together much more securely and tightly.

Being an amaryllis lover (I have 40+), I am always looking for usable stakes. These stakes look great with my amaryllis. They are easily adjustable so as the flower stem grows, you can add length to the stake. But be forwarned-do not press down on these stakes from the top-they bend easily and also break. The best way is to push down on the part of the stake nearest to the dirt.
