Hungry Ladybugs and Mantises Devour Insect Pests

  • Beneficial bugs are a safe, natural pest control
  • Control aphids, beetles, grasshoppers and more

Ladybugs and praying mantises are voracious predators of many garden insect pests, including aphids, whiteflies, spider mites and mealy bugs. We'll send you approximately 1,500 adult ladybugs or an egg case of 200-300 praying mantis eggs — each adult will eat several times its weight in insect pests, daily!

  • Ladybugs (Hippodamia convergens) help control aphids, whiteflies, spider mites, and mealybugs
  • Mantises (Tenodera aridifolia sinensis) eat aphids, beetles, grasshoppers, caterpillars, moths, mosquitoes, and other insects

    Comments about Beneficial Bugs:

Each year my garden gets bigger. And I try to keep things as natural as possible. This was a fun way to try to control pests, and something to do with and teach my 4 year old son about gardening. I think maybe 10-20 ladybugs didn't make it through shipping, but I was expecting some to not survive. Unfortunately, the day I released them we had a bad thunderstorm with local flooding that evening. The next morning I found the ladybugs that had made it through the storm all clinging to one tomato leaf. Lol
I will definitely buy again next year. ( But will check the weather forecast first!)

I received first shipment of lady bugs and unfortunately most were dead. I contacted customer service and received a second shipment of lady bugs at no cost. Luckily they were all alive.

can't rate this product yet. Received egg case several weeks ago and still waiting for eggs to hatch. Placed egg case in paper bag and placed outside per instructions. Check bag daily and so far nothing. Not sure I would buy again. Too bad.

          Comments about Beneficial Bugs:

As far as I can tell, all the ladybugs are well. I put sticks and hay in a clay pot with a handful of raisins in shade. I put the praying mantis in a brown paper bag in the window where there was lots of warm sun. Six weeks later they hatched. I took the bag where the clay pot was with the sticks and hay and I closed pinned the sack to a stick in the pot. Came back a week later and they were still hatching and coming and going. The pot was large with lots of shelter from the birds. Thank you!

          Comments about Beneficial Bugs:

From reading some of the other reviews, we concluded that we should follow the directions carefully--so we did, and it all worked beautifully: We now have about 1,000 new pets! (We don't see them all regularly, of course.) All of the ladybugs arrived alive and well, and all 4 of the oothecas hatched out with perfect tiny mantis instars, all of whom went tramping purposefully out to our bug-infested yard. This is a great opportunity. Just follow the instructions carefully--remember, they're living creatures, not Tinkertoys. If you have questions, get them answered before you order.

Put cocoon out as directed but nothing ever hatched out! Maybe we received them too early for this area.
