Hungry Ladybugs and Mantises Devour Aphids and other Insect Pests

  • Beneficial bugs are a safe, natural pest control
  • Control aphids, beetles, grasshoppers and more

Ladybugs and praying mantises are voracious predators of many garden insect pests, including aphids, whiteflies, spider mites and mealy bugs. We'll send you approximately 1,500 adult ladybugs or an egg case of 200-300 praying mantis eggs — each adult will eat several times its weight in insect pests, daily!

  • Ladybugs (Hippodamia convergens) help control aphids, whiteflies, spider mites, and mealybugs
  • Mantises (Tenodera aridifolia sinensis) eat aphids, beetles, grasshoppers, caterpillars, moths, mosquitoes, and other insects

There were enough to release in multiple locations. They were alive and active upon arrival. I plan to buy more next year just to help boost genetic diversity!

      Comments about Beneficial Bugs:

We bought these because we do NOT like pesticides...we enjoy the fact our kids can literally eat out of the garden. Our corn this year was covered in aphids...until we got our ladybugs...within days..the aphids were gone from our corn, roses, and other plants. The other beneficial insects did their jobs quickly as well...and we are still, a month later, finding very happy fat ladybugs in the garden, and NO aphids!

All the lady bugs arrived alive and (looked) healthy. I spread them all over a 1/4 acre garden .. but then after a week I never saw them again. Not sure what I needed to do to keep them there. They had tomatoes, peppers, cucubmer plants as well as tons of flowers to hang out on.

          Comments about Beneficial Bugs:

Released the ladies in July, and they did their job. No more aphids. They stayed around until their work was done. Still see some around, but I'm guessing most have migrated to help someone else's garden. I'm often surprised at how many people are unaware of the benefits of ladybugs.

          Comments about Beneficial Bugs:

When my Lady Bugs arrive, I release them into my greenhouse making sure to leave a shallow dish of water for them. Within a day they have eaten all the aphids on my vegetable plants. I can't say enough about how much I love them. I don't have to use dangerous chemicals on vegetables I will be eating. Nothing else I tried worked as well and as quickly.

I have ordered ladybugs three times (twice this year) from Gardener's Supply. Each time, they arrived quickly and were alive and happy to be set free. They are active in eating aphids, etc. My greenhouse is kept healthy by these beneficial bugs and I am very pleased with them and GS.

                  Comments about Beneficial Bugs:

Each year my garden gets bigger. And I try to keep things as natural as possible. This was a fun way to try to control pests, and something to do with and teach my 4 year old son about gardening. I think maybe 10-20 ladybugs didn't make it through shipping, but I was expecting some to not survive. Unfortunately, the day I released them we had a bad thunderstorm with local flooding that evening. The next morning I found the ladybugs that had made it through the storm all clinging to one tomato leaf. Lol
I will definitely buy again next year. ( But will check the weather forecast first!)
