Yaktrax® Pro: Tire Chains for Your Feet

Just like the original Yaktrax® treads, Yaktrax® Pro slips over almost any footwear to give you great traction on ice and snow. This industrial-strength version is designed for heavy use by mail carriers, winter runners and other avid outdoors people. Upgrades include: durable natural rubber construction that resists tears; coil grips made of longer-lasting stainless steel; VELCRO® brand performance straps across the top grips shoes securely. Three sizes:

- Medium: Fits Women's 10-1/2 to 12-1/2, Men's 9-11

I bought these to use on our dry hillside and so far, so good. It is very hard and dry earth, but we tend to slip and fall too often due to the steepness so I gave these a try. The coils seem to grab enough earth to keep me upright and since I haven't fallen yet that is a very good sign.
They are a bit difficult to put on shoes initially, but once on they are great and they stay in place. I designated a pair of shoes to use with the Yaktrax and so I don't bother removing them from the shoes.

Getting older, I don't want to risk falling. Even an old gymnast needs help and this did it. Arthritic fingers was no problem getting YakTrax on or off. Other shoppers wanted to know where I got them. Told a cousin in OH about this; BIG help after she was snowed in. Never know if black ice is under that snow!

Here in Middle-TN, about 20 miles east of Music City (Nashville), we usually get one or two icy conditions each winter. Grandpa does not want grandma to fall,slip or slide when she makes her daily walk to our mailbox. Grandma now awaits the predicted snow & ice with her Yaktrax* at ready !!

These were sent to my son in Minot, ND. I have no personal knowledge, but he wears them when he walks to work in the morning. He is a young guy and a sensitive about appearances, but I think he will use them more and more as the snow and ice accumulate.
