Let worms transform your kitchen scraps into nutrient-rich organic fertilizer with this efficient, multi-tiered composter. Worms start at the bottom and migrate upwards as the go, leaving behind tray after tray of rich compost. A reservoir at the bottom captures "worm tea" — an ideal, odor-free liquid fertilizer. I got this as a Christmas gift for my husband. We are both enjoying it. Although we have only been using it for a few weeks, the worms are settling in and starting to make compost from food scraps. There is absolutely no odor, and we enjoy watching the worms at work. Although the worms are just getting started, we may need to get another unit to handle all the kitchen scraps a family of four generates. It would be nice to have an extra-large unit.

Comments about Worm Factory®:
The composter is great, and works as it should. We keep it away from the house in a shaded area. There are tons of fruit flies around it, which means there are more scraps than the worms can handle. I bought more worms locally. However, with a family of 4 that eats fruits and vegetables every day, this composter reaches capacity quickly. You need to order more trays, or a second composter to really take it all.

I am a beginner and love this set up. Neat and clean, it sits right in the kitchen and nobody even knows its there. Tried the homemade version and just couldn't get the hang of it but this comes with everything I needed and great instructions.

Comments about Worm Factory®:
It is easy to harvest the compost from this mechanism, because once the worms have completed composting the bottom tray, they move upwards. This allows the harvester to simply remove the bottom tray, and spread the contents around their garden without losing all your worms.
It is important to add food slowly at first while your worms reproduce and adjust their population to suit the amount of food available. If too much food is added at once, an odor will happen, and dry shredded paper must be added to reduce the moisture content. Mostly though, you will have to wait for the worms to catch up to all the food available.

I was leery of worm composting, but my friend does it and has actually started his own compost tea business and it's doing quite well. So far there are no negatives

This was my own mother's day gift for myself. Besides eating my household scraps, I now will have compose for my houseplants and garden transplants. I do think my grandson has different ideas - a fishing trip with his Pop. Though ours is in the basement, I believe that it could stay in our kitchen if we had room. No smell. Quietest pets I ever had!
