I returned this item. It looked really great in the catalogue but I was disappointed that it wasn't all made of wood, and that it was imported.
As others have commented, it is a bit difficult to get the doors open because of the small knobs. Mine also came without the screws to anchor the tree to the base.

Looking forward to opening each door for the animal inside. There are lots of details and each animal is different. However the quality of the animals is just ok, they are a little crude. The house is ok and the doors work just fine.

I'm returning the wooden advent calendar. I purchased it as a gift. I was pleased to find that it was packed to perfection in the shipping box. When I took the item out of the box, I found it to be larger than I expected and I was very disappointed with the press-board base that didn't match the style of the house and animals.

Years ago I purchased the Noah's Ark and absolutely love it(it is a different one sold now). I wanted the Woodland Cabin for my outdoorsy son and children. What a dispppointment. The cabin is OK but the animals are very cheaply made, painted with weird accent yellow color, and portionally do not go together. I realize that they must fit in the little boxes but the moose is much smaller than the chipmunk!! They are plain ugly. I waited for several years for this to go on sale, so I will keep it (and I have to pay to ship it back!) but I will look for nice quality replacement animals. I would NEVER pay full price for this and unless you are willing to look for other animals, it is not worth the cost.
