it seems very delicate-and therefore hard to store, it was very hard just to try and slide it back into the box that it came in, without feeling like something was going to snap. Also the compartment for the battery was extremely difficult to open- without breaking the whole thing. Once my husband got it open, we rubbed some soap on the edges of the cover before sliding it back into place, and hopefully that will help. It looked good online and in the catalog..just not as thrilled with it as I thought I'd be.

We bought this shadowbox for our cabin and I was so impressed with the quality and how wonderful it looked against the wall that I bought two more for gifts!! I've seen comparable shadowboxes in other catalogs for much more money!!

A very nice product, we are very pleased with it--it's a lovely addition to our winter-time decorations. In general the design is very good, though construction is a bit messy in spots (too much glue here and there), and the item must be handled and stored with care. Overall, good value, we recommend it!

I thought this item was made in Germany, due to the description of item, although it may be a "German" tradition, this item is made in China... which to me makes a HUGE difference in expected quality. I bought it for a gift for my daughter, she says she likes it, otherwise I would return it.

First one had defective wiring---lights, not supposed to blink, blinked erratically. GS promptly and politely replaced it, but second one had a misplaced light (glued in place) which glares at viewers (rather than supplying indirect light). It is awkward, and therefore difficult, to replace the batteries. Item is traditional German design (the Dresden region), a representation of the view a miner had exiting a mine portal, but made in China.

Love the overall look and feel of the product, but the electrical wiring seemed flimsy upon first inspection and then developed a short after about an hour of use.
