Skimming just below the soil surface, the Winged Weeder's double edged blade cuts down weeds on both the push stroke and the pull stroke. You can even sweep side to side to clear a large area, and it also aerates soil as you weed.

Comments about Winged Weeder:
I'm delighted with the Winged Weeder. It's easy and pleasant to use, and the back and forth motion just below the surface of the dirt stops new weeds from getting bigger, and helps keep the space between my vegetable rows nice and clear. This has also helped to keep the snails at a distance. It is not meant to cut larger weeds, so it's a product you need to use frequently to keep the new weeds from getting a head start. I do wonder, though, whether a slightly sharper blade might make it more effective with larger weeds too.
But for what it's meant for, and what it does, this is the best weeding hoe I ever tried, and I love using it. Great results!

Comments about Winged Weeder:
I have used this product for many years. It is very easy to use, fast, as I take care of farm property with 2 rental homes. I use it for removing all weeds around the houses, flower gardens, in the vegetable garden, not for large pokeweed and other larger plants. How I use- place tool underneath the leaves, at the base of the plant, using pulling motion toward myself, the tool skims slightly under the surface of the soil, slicing the plant at its base, removing whole plant. I use a forward an back movement, and sideways, slicing all weeds. I have arthritis now, and have tried so many tools over the years. Can't live without this one.

Comments about Winged Weeder:
I have been using this weeder for the third time today the blade snapped off, after looking at the blade closely it seems the holes to fasten the blade are too big and poorly placed and thereby weakening the blade. Otherwise the tool worked great
I was just skimming the dirt, no rocks or other hard surface even though the ads says works great under mulch....etc. I reported the break and hope to hear from GS this coming week. I'll keep you posted. At this point I cannot recommend will see how this plays out and if a replacement will do better.

Comments about Winged Weeder:
I've had an earlier version of this product for more than 15 years, and unfortunately one of the wings snapped off weeding around my rasberries. So I was eagerly looking forward to the replacement. First use out of the box - both wings broke off after it got hooked on a vines' roots. This works great in a bed that's purely mulch - but anywhere where you need to work around other established plants - look out. I do NOT recommend buying this product.

Comments about Winged Weeder:
I love the way you can stand and skim away small weeds. Need to rake up the weeds after cutting but that is simple. Most times you could just use the tool on it's side to gather the weed heads.
Not good for removing dandelions, deep rooted weeds, or large clumps of crab grass. Haven't tried digging with it yet though.
Lightweight, sharp, durable and just an overall pleasure to use. I am sure I will find more uses as time goes on but only have had it a few weeks. Have already loaned it to family members and friends.
It is a treasure to have in my tool arsenal...don't ever stop making it so that others can discover its wonders.
