      Comments about Expandable Willow Trellises:

The trellises look great in my garden, and the vines can crawl up it with no help from me, since the elements are small enough for the plants to wrap around them easily. I am a little concerned about stability when the vines are fully grown and will probably put stakes in an unobtrusive spot to anchor them.

        Comments about Expandable Willow Trellises:

This support looks lovely in my woodsy garden and I'm very happy with it. I am using it to support sweet autumn clematis, a climbing, flowering vine. The only drawback is that it is hard to anchor it securely. The blunt bottoms of the sticks making up the support are hard to sink into the ground. This is less of a problem if you spread it out so that the base is very wide. We haven't had high winds yet but I plan to use strings tied to the structure to anchor it to stakes in the ground. This will look a little funny around the bottom of the structure until the vines grow up to hide the strings. But overall I think this is a great product.

I ordered peas from Monticello after reading a book on the restoring of the "retirement garden" there and a biography of Thomas Jefferson. I've tried metal devices for peas to climb on, but found them unattractive and rusted after one use. The willow trellis I got is very attractive and easy to use: just spread it out and push into the ground where the peas are going to be planted. I feel like this trellis is something TJ would have approved of, being one of the first organic gardeners in the USA.

This product isn't good if you have winds like we do. I had to place stakes in the ground and then tie each one to the stakes so they wouldn't blow away. I do like that they are expandable to fit different sizes of plants, in our case climbing roses. I sprayed them in green paint so they would blend in with he garden. If they only had a staking solution I would have been very pleased.

This will be my third year with the small and medium size trellis. They have held up very well in the weather. They are in my vegetable garden for the entire season. I have run peas and sweet potato vines over them and they have performed well. The trick is to get them deep enough in the ground so they don't blow over. My garden is in a fairly windy spot and with a little more attention at the beginning they stand all summer. I think they are a great price. They are beautiful and very functional.
