I have a large dog and when we come into the house during inclement weather, I have her stand on the doormat for a few seconds. Then, she bounds up the stairs. These treads catch most of the residual water or snow from her paws and they give her secure footing.
My older dog couldn't get up the deck stairs by herself until I got these treads. Now she has the purchase she needs to go up and down by herself confidently. And I didn't even have to tack the treads to the deck--the backing keeps them in police perfectly.
