Here's a fun, low-tech way to predict the weather. It seems
too simple to be true, but our old-time Weather Stick is
actually a remarkably effective natural barometer. It
responds to subtle atmospheric changes by bending upward
in fair weather, and down when inclement weather is near.
A great way to teach kids about weather science.
Made in Vermont of balsam fir.

We mounted this weather stick according to instructions. After 3 weeks, with several major fronts moving through, the stick doesn't work - it remains upright no matter whether the skies are fair and clear, or it is snowing.

We installed the weather stick on our woodshed at our home on Lake Huron in northern Michigan just prior to an oncoming storm. Lo and behold, the stick began to bend down and it predicted the weather change. And it continues to do so. I believe in magic!

I bought two of these as gifts and they were a big hit! They are more accurate than our local weather report. It's easy to hang up since the nail is included and already started in the base. Just pick a place and hammer it in. It's a real conversation piece and a useful tool, too.
