Buy together and save! This set includes the VegTrug Patio Garden, the VegTrug Frame & Greenhouse Cover and the VegTrug Insect Cover.
The VegTrug Patio Garden lets you garden at an easy working height; no bending or kneeling to plant, tend and harvest. Elevated bed means no weeds and fewer pests, too. The V-shape makes efficient use of space and planting mix — grow deep-rooted plants like tomatoes in the center, shallow-rooted crops along the edges. Includes a fitted fabric liner to keep soil contained while letting excess water drain. Plastic feet protect wood from wet surfaces. Easy assembly.
The VegTrug Set includes the Vegtrug Frame & Greenhouse Cover. You can start planting earlier in spring and extend the growing season later into fall for an even bigger harvest. The easy-to-install, 21"-high steel frame installs in minutes with convenient push-fit connectors, and the reinforced polyethylene greenhouse cover has heavy-duty stitching and zippers. The cover slips snugly over the frame and attaches with strong VELCRO® brand tabs. Zips open for ventilation and easy access to crops.
The set also includes the polyethylene micro-mesh VegTrug Insect Cover to protect plants from insects, birds, harsh winds and hungry deer. To install, simply remove the greenhouse cover from the frame, and then install the insect cover in its place. Attaches with strong VELCRO® brand tabs. Zips open for ventilation and easy access to crops.

I easily assembled the Veg Trug in about two hours, using the included hardware. After inserting the breathable liner, which keeps the soil from seeping through the slats, I added 400 liters (8 bags) of potting soil and watered it well. The insect cover frame was set-up very quickly.
A week ago we planted lettuce, zucchini, yellow squash, beans and basil. Lettuce and zucchini sprouts are peaking through now.
This is our first vegetable garden, so we have no long-term experience with durability of the Veg Trug.

My back and intolerance of heat and humidity had severely limited my herb and vegetable gardening, but the Veg--Trug has enabled me to do what I love. I have the larger one and it fits perfectly by my back door. I'm growing basil, parsley chives, carrots, kale, chard, mesclun, microgreens, tomatoes and marigolds. I especially like that the depth in the middle allows me to grow tomatoes and the depth around the edges is just deep enough for herbs, so the soil mix is put to best use.

Best Uses
- Back injuries

- Vegetable garden
I purchased this because I have injuries to my lumbar spine. I tried to use a standard raised bed last year, but the constant bending, kneeling, sitting and standing was too painful. I really want to be able to grow fresh, organic, non-GMO produce to serve my family and for community trading.
I think the insect cover is great, although the company needs to reinforce the zippers. I've had this for 1 month, and the zipper is separating from the cover - and I've been careful with it as they instruct. I'm not sure how to reinforce the frame myself - I'd prefer to not use duct tape, but I don't know how to machine sew.
The greenhouse cover is also great. I started seeds very early this year, and I cover the bed every night and on cold days to protect the babies. I would love it if I could attach both covers (greenhouse over insect) at the same time. The greenhouse cover fits over the insect cover just fine, but I can't attach both, so when it's windy I have to tie the greenhouse cover down. This take two people because my arms won't fit around the whole bed. I plan to attach metal bales/eyes to the VegTrug so that I can leave the twine attached on one side all the time - bungee cords would work fine as well, provided they are long enough to hold the cover loosely.
I would LOVE it if the company made the covers a little easier to roll/fold up, and I think they should provide cases for both covers. I'm not sure where I'm going to store them over the winter, and for the price of the whole set, I don't think a case is too much to ask.
Set up/assembly was reasonable, but it is time consuming, and it's a 2 person job for sure. I recommend using a power drill because it will cut your time in half. Have a small bit ready because it's possible some of the predrilled holes will not line up correctly. I had to drill a few new holes to avoid splitting and to compensate for holes that didn't line up.
I suggest leaving the wood in the location where you will be using it for 24 hours before assembly to allow the wood to adjust to the new moisture levels. I didn't do that and it made the assembly more difficult.
The instructions mention this, but it's important: don't tighten the screws all the way until the whole thing is together. We had an issue where the side panels weren't fitting flush inside the end panels (the v-shaped sides). We assembled and disassembled the whole thing maybe 3 times. Then we reassembled the legs and end panels, and left the screws very loose, and walked away for a few hours.
We came back with fresh eyes, inserted the skeleton/rib cage without screwing it in place, and attached the side panels. Then we adjusted the skeleton until everything sat flush, and finished screwing everything in - but not tightly. The next morning, I slowly tightened the screws and all was well.
We were going to build something like this. If you have the tools, the space and the experience, it's certainly doable. We're both glad we didn't try that, and are happy with the VegTrug.
I'm in Zone 7, it's May 2nd, and I have lettuce, spinach, catnip, peppermint, tomatoes, chives, parsley, carrots, alyssum and nasturium growing in the VegTrug. My first harvest will likely be very early this year; that will allow me to prepare more produce for winter storage and trade for some of the veggies and herbs I didn't have room for.

I have bought 2 so far and I am pondering a third.
I live in a wooded area and don't get full sun all the time. I added heavy duty casters to them and it allows me to move it fully loaded into the sun. You have to move it on blacktop or concrete only.

Pros
- Deep Enough To Grow
- Just the right height
Cons
Best Uses
- Growing Vegtables
While I love the size the directions were not very clear and it took most of the day to assemble because I had to take it apart and reassemble 3 times. I am currently growing herbs and salad greens in it and it is working great. I will order more of these as the height works for me since I can no longer get up and down for traditional gardening.
