I purchased two barrels for a total storage capacity of about 150 gallons. The installation of the barrels was straight forward and relatively simple to do. At the end of one season both barrels leak badly and will not hold water. They both leak around the overflow outlet which cannot be sealed. This is poorly designed product since the overflow is really not necessary in the first place, provided the barrels are installed correctly.

We like this barrel, but the overflow mechanism is not well designed. The tube comes loose way down inside the barrel and the top is not removable to be able to get down into it to replace it. When it comes loose, the tube lays in water and gets slimy and dirty - adding to the frustration of reinstalling it. The tube is too flexible and does not offer any resistance to assist in replacing either. HTH.

Well, I left it outside winter before last which was brutal and it functioned fine last summer and fall. Did the same this year and it was too much. It leaks horribly. Last spring I bought a second, smaller one for a more visible location at our home and it didn't make it through it's first winter Would love to know how to reseal them. If that cannot be done, they will go to recycle.

I had a little trouble getting the two barrels at the same level, but once that was accomplished, drilling the holes and putting the grommets in wasn't that difficult. It hasn't rained since I installed the second barrel, so I can't say how the system works, yet, but I've had my first barrel for a long time, and it has saved a lot of water and carried some plants through a drought. I have a leak in my gutter, so I positioned the barrels under that, instead of under the drain pipe. The screen is wide enough to catch all the drips from the leak.

I installed the rain barrel with a downspout diverter and it filled up on our very first rain. It has been great for watering our flowers and vegetables. I think I'm going to have to get a pump though to make it easier to move the water across the lawn. That will be the next project!

So easy to set-up and put to use. A few simple steps and depending on your gutter system, a couple of adjustments and your on your way to water savings. We set up 3 barrels in one day and were ready for the next rain. Our outside watering as well as inhouse plant watering has become a wonderful activity, filling bottles to bring inside, but the most fun is hooking up a small electric pump to the hose and barrel, then walk around and water without costly MWRA water bills. Wonderful on the environment as well. We prefer to store our barrels for the winter months. Just disassemble and store in the basement for the winter months. Awesome product and cost effective too! Worth every penny. These barrels have been a conversation piece in our neighborhood as well, getting others to converse on water and help our wonderful planet.
